Ivanka Trump Attends Interfaith National Prayer Service Wearing a Custom Red Design by Suzannah London
Ivanka Trump wore a custom Suzannah London red coat dress at the 2025 National Prayer Service as well as her daughter Arabella Kushner.
Just when you thought there was absolutely nothing more that could be written, analyzed or criticized about the 2025 Inaugural Weekend fashion choices that were made by the Trump family, wait, hereâs one more.
Ivanka Trump, who has made her share of entrances with designer choices from Oscar de la Renta and Givenchy haute couture, during the Washingtonian proceedings in recent days left style watchers with one final parting look. The mother of three showed up at Tuesdayâs National Prayer Service with her husband Jared Kushner and their children at the National Cathedral wearing a bold red bespoke coat dress. That belted style was not exactly a last-minute throw-on that was grabbed while heading for the door.

The custom-made piece was crafted by Suzannah Londonâs atelier with extra attention paid to its construction, especially the not-to-be missed bow. Made of Italian wool crepe in a striking vermillion red, Trump was easy to find in the sea of suits that many attendees wore, including her father, Donald Trump, and Vice President J.D. Vance. Melania Trump and Usha Vance also opted for toned down styles, with Trump turning up in a black wool felt double breasted Prada coat, and Vance opting for an ivory silk blouse and long skirt from the brand Favorite Daughter. Founded by sisters Erin and Sara Foster, the company is based and made in Vanceâs hometown state of California.

As for the First Familyâs older daughterâs look of the day, Ivanka Trumpâs vibrant red choice was inspired by Suzannah Londonâs âPrueâ dress, according to a company spokeswoman. That frock is made of pure Italian silk twill, and is fully lined in silk too. The label has a âHydrangeaâ version available on its e-commerce site for $2,025. As the name suggests, the 1950s-inspired silhouette is printed with images of the oversized white flowers on a black silk base. If that sounds a little âhausfrauâ for a midi-length dress, itâs not. Think painterly, more than motherly.
The U.K.-based Suzannah London brand plays up sustainability, and touts passing items on from one generation to the next. The founder of Suzannah London is Suzannah Crabb, a 23-year veteran of the fashion industry, who has worked as a designer, stylist and trend forecaster. As for reading into Trumpâs choice of red, the most obvious explanation would be a nod to her fatherâs Republican party, or perhaps a wink at China, an area of interest and/or concern for many. Â In more historic terms, during the American Revolution, British soldiers, who fought against the American Patriots, were known as âredcoats,â due to their red uniform jackets. Whatever the reason, if there even is one for Trumpâs color choice, would be best left to others to dissect. Trumpâs daughter Arabella Kushner clearly is a fan of the poppy-like hue, having attended the service in a knee-length coat that also had a sizable bow at the neck.
