Jade Thirlwall arrives at Brits with 'husband' after Simon Cowell swipe
Jade Thirlwall, who now goes by JADE, won her first Brit as a solo female artist after releasing her debut solo single - and she's arrived with the figure from the music video.
Little Mix's Jade Thirwall made a dramatic entrance at the Brit Awards 2025 on Saturday, as she arrived with the so-called 'Simon Cowell' figure from her first solo music video.
The artist sparked conversation with her first solo track after fans believed she was criticising the music mogul following her experience on X Factor in 2011. She marked her first Brit award as a solo artist on Saturday night.
‌
The lyrics of the song - Angel of My Dreams - referred to her selling her "soul to a psycho", which some fans suggested referred to Simon's now defunct record label, SyCo, according to reports in the Mirror.
The video also shows Jade, who performed at this year's awards, marrying a large male figure - and includes the line "Got you a car, got you a house / Got you a suit, it's Gucci / If I don't win, I'm in the bin", which prompted much of the speculation about the figure's real-life identity.
Jade, 32, arrived at this year's star-studded Brits with the larger-than-life figure by her side, dressed from head to toe in white and clutching a white bouquet of flowers.
‌
The Newcastle-born star was nominated for not one but two awards, including Pop Act and Song of the Year for Angel of My Dreams, which she released in July last year and is based around a sample of Sandie Shaw's Puppet on a String.
Jade has opened up about the inspiration behind her song released recently, highlighting how the early days with the band influenced its creation. She said, "It's not as glam as it seems. In the beginning of our career you do think you are this puppet, but at the same time it isn't true – we wrote a lot of our songs, and we were behind a lot of what we put out there. I resented that as a statement. So it felt natural to take that and show that it can be true and untrue at the same time."
‌
The star joined the ranks of Little Mix in 2011 together with Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Jesy Nelson. Following Jesy Nelson's departure in 2020, Jade with the other members announced a break from the group in 2021 after a successful decade to focus on individual projects.
Amid speculation linking her music to Simon Cowell, Jade clarified her stance in an earlier interview with Beat Juice saying, "It's not specifically about that. But I wanted the song to be my journey, from entering the music business to now, and what that felt like. That's why the song feels so chaotic. The opening is like the music to that montage bit on The X Factor after you've won and you're just catapulted into the industry."
