Jaime Winstone is returning to EastEnders and has admitted it is emotional reprising her role as a young Peggy Mitchell in the soap.
However, she feels she is doing so with the backing of the late Barbara Windsor, who she feels "gives her the go-ahead" as soon as she puts on the wig. Jaime, 39, first took on the role of Barbara Windsor in the 2017 biopic Babs, which was made with the soap legend's blessing before she died in 2020. Jaime then took on Babs' Peggy Mitchell EastEnders role in a 2022 flashback episode. Now, she is set to return to the BBC1 soap again.
Jaime called the role "iconic", but it's far from the first role the star has excelled in during her rise in the industry. In fact, her brush with fame started early in her life as she has a famous dad.

Jaime comes from a good acting pedigree, with her Hollywood star dad Ray Winstone. Ray, who has been in huge hits such as Sexy Beast, King of Thieves and Black Widow, has a close bond with his daughter.
Jaime previously revealed she was a shy child but admitted when she finally worked behind-the-scenes with some big-name stars she caught the acting bug. Jaime and dad Ray have worked together on various sets and behind the scenes. Speaking of how it first began, she said on Virgin Radio in 2023: " I started working with dad in LA and I started to be his sort of personal assistant, but also a runner on most of the sets.
"I loved it because for me I got to see how the film was made and each department and how it all comes together and really earn respect for it. I also work pretty hard. It's a tough game to be a part of but just watching, I always sort of loved being behind the camera and sort of assisting in that department.â
However, in 2013, Jaime joked she had banned her dad from watching any more of her films. Their closeness is said to have left Ray wanting to "kill every man in the room" after he watched her steamy sex scene in Kidulthood.
âWhen I watched it I wanted to kill every guy in the film. I did,â he previously said. Sheâs my baby, you know?â
He added: "Of course you stand back and you think this is what you do as an actor,â says Ray. Iâve done very violent scenes. Iâve been naked in films. Itâs just what you do. But thereâs a strong father-daughter instinct there. Iâm a little more chilled about it now though."

The actress married James Suckling in a secret ceremony in Sicily in 2023. They were surrounded by loved ones as 250 guests partied the night away after the DJ popped the question at Glastonbury the year before.
Jaime's actor dad Ray was by her side. Also in attendance was Sheridan Smith, presenter Nick Grimshaw and film star Jason Connery. Jaime and James' son, Raymond, who was born in 2016, was also there for his parents' big day.
Jaime and James first started dating in 2015.

Jaime has previously opened up about not being able to shift her "party girl" tag she received in her 20s. She explained how she had wanted to "reframe" the labels as she got older.
In 2023, she spoke to Grazia and explained how she doesn't regret her partying days. She said: "All through my 20's I was called 'party girl' or 'it girl' and thinking back it's like, wait a minute, isn't this what I'm supposed to be doing? I've worked since I was 16 year-old. I'm allowed to stumble a little bit. Nobody's perfect!
"Now, I'm taking that back, taking a bit of ownership and reframing those labels and saying it's okay to do that. It's okay to rave hard in your front room!"
She reiterated people should "let a woman live". "If I want to have a bottle of wine, or if I want to go and watch an opera and cry my eyes out and feel good about it. Let me!"
