Janel Grant Given Until January 31 To Argue For Amending Lawsuit Against Vince McMahon, WWE And John Laurinaitis
There has been another update in Janel Grant's lawsuit against Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and WWE.
There has been another update in Janel Grant‘s lawsuit against Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and WWE.
In January 2024, Grant filed a lawsuit against Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and WWE, alleging that she was the victim of physical and emotional abuse, sexual assault, and trafficking at WWE. McMahon denied the allegations but resigned from WWE and TKO. He has been under investigation, and a six-month stay on the lawsuit expired on December 11. Grant recently filed a request for a status conference.
Brandon Thurston of POST Wrestling reports that Judge Sarah F. Russell denied the motion and ruled that Grant has until January 31 to present her argument regarding why she should be permitted to amend her complaint. Russell officially ruled that the stay on the case had expired and denied the defendants’ motion to move the matter into private arbitration. However, they will be allowed to renew these motions after the court decides whether Grant may amend her complaint. As of this writing, it is unclear how Grant specifically intends to modify her complaint.
Grant’s attorneys recently argued that the SEC’s announcement that Vince McMahon settled his charges highlighted the need to amend the complaint. The defendants continue to argue that the matter should be moved to arbitration due to an arbitration clause that was part of Grant’s NDA with McMahon.
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
