Jang Ryul, Chani, Son Woo Hyeon, And More Are Joseon’s Most Eligible Bachelors Ready To Steal Hearts In “The Scandal Of Chunhwa”
“The Scandal of Chunhwa” has introduced a dashing lineup of Joseon's most sought-after bachelors!
“The Scandal of Chunhwa” is a historical romance drama that tells the story of Princess Hwa Ri (Go Ara) who, after experiencing the heartbreak of her first love, declares her intention to choose her future husband herself. Her groundbreaking decision throws the royal palace into turmoil and entangles her with two men: Choi Hwan (Jang Ryul), the city’s most notorious playboy, and Jang Won (SF9’s Chani), the city’s most eligible bachelor.
The drama features five captivating men who will showcase different shades of romance: Choi Hwan, Jang Won, Crown Prince Yi Seung (Son Woo Hyeon), painter Kim Min Hong (Bae Yoon Kyu), and Prince Yi Yeol (Kim Taek).
First up is Choi Hwan, the city's most infamous playboy. With immense wealth and a smooth demeanor, he exudes an undeniable aura that makes him the center of attention. His reputation precedes him, leaving behind a trail of women who couldn’t escape his charm. But what compels him to be the first to volunteer as Hwa Ri’s suitor?
On the other end of the spectrum, Jang Won embodies the ideal son-in-law. Handsome, intelligent, and possessing impeccable character, Jang Won is the eldest son of a distinguished family, making him the top choice for marriage among noble families. Yet, despite the attention, he remains unmoved—until Hwa Ri’s unexpected proclamation pulls him into an unexpected whirlwind of romance.
Crown Prince Yi Seung is Hwa Ri’s older brother and the king’s eldest son. A model prince, he dedicates himself tirelessly to his studies and the responsibilities of the throne, ensuring he leaves no room for criticism. Yet, behind his seemingly flawless exterior lies a quiet melancholy that hints at a deeper story.
Adding an artistic flair to the mix is painter Kim Min Hong, whose talent is his greatest allure. Renowned as a genius artist, he also shares a special bond with Hwa Ri, having been both her painting mentor and the keeper of one of her deepest secrets. As they navigate their complex relationship, subtle sparks begin to fly.
Rounding out the group is Prince Yi Yeol, Hwa Ri’s second older brother, known for his undying devotion to his wife. With a positive mindset, he is a man of action—energetic, straightforward, and more attuned to martial arts than academics. His unwavering love for his friend’s sister, Lee Ji Won (Han Seung Yeon), leads him to marriage, making him the drama’s ultimate romantic fool.
The first two episodes of “The Scandal of Chunhwa” will premiere on February 6 at 12 p.m. KST!
