Jelly Roll Gives Health Update: 'It's Worth the Pain'

Country singer Jelly Roll is on a health journey and heâs had significant results. That doesnât mean the journey isnât without frustration and pain, the âAmerican Idolâ artist-in-residence explained.

Jelly Roll has lost 120 pounds and is celebrating his success. Heâs also getting real about how much work heâs putting into his weight loss journey.
On February 9, Jelly Roll took to Instagram to show off the view from the top after a long uphill hike.
âListen, I just wanted to let yâall know something from the bottom of my heart. Iâm tired, Iâm frustrated, Iâm sore,â the singer said. âBut holy [expletive], isnât that beautiful?â
âI hope yâall are getting out moving today, itâs worth the sacrifice, yâall. Itâs worth the pain,â he continued.Â
The singer noted, âI realized today that some days when I get out here in this process of trying to make this massive life change, that some days, I come out here and I feel great. From the moment we start, I feel good all the way through, and I only feel better when I leave, you know? But today kinda reminded me that sometimes you have those days, man, where you just donât feel it at all.â
He added, âAnd even as you get walking, you donât feel it. Your heartbeat starts pumping, you still donât completely feel it. You know what I mean?â
Jelly Roll encouraged his followers to stand strong even though obstacles are inevitable. âWe canât live in a false sense of this thing, not sucking,â he said. âLike, youâre making this big of a life change, itâs gonna hurt. Be painful. Iâm sore all the time.â
The singer noted, âBut man, I feel better yâall.â
He continued, explaining, âEspecially the first couple months, you feel like youâre just [expletive] in the wind. Like, you canât get any progress.â
Jelly Roll encouraged his fans to âstick withâ it and said heâd see them at the 4K in Tampa, Florida on May 4.
âWe are gonna do this thing together yâall,â he said. âLove yâall, man. Letâs get healthy together yâall.â

In a February 7 interview with E! News, Jelly Roll shared his big personal win. âI hiked a mountain the other day. Camelback,â he said. âThere is no way that would have been possible beforehand, so itâs great to see that progress and we still are going.â
He also touched on what keeps him focused. âThe things that motivate me and keep me going are the people I have met along the way across the juveniles and rehab centers or prisons along the way,â he shared. âThe people that come up to me and bravely share their sobriety date, or a story of something that theyâve dealt with, or someone theyâve lost.â
Jelly Roll added, âSeeing the resilience of the human spirit, there is no greater motivation than to keep going.â

The director of The Art of Negotiation has shared his thoughts on the drama and the castâs performances!
âThe Art of Negotiationâ follows the story of Yoon Joo No (Lee Je Hoon), an M&A expert who is known as a legendary negotiator, as he leads his team through high-stakes corporate challenges. The drama is helmed by director Ahn Pan Seok, who is known for his meticulous attention to detail and realism.
The cast also includes Kim Dae Myung as Oh Soon Young, Sung Dong Il as Song Jae Sik, Jang Hyun Sung as Ha Tae Soo, Oh Man Seok as Lee Dong Joon, Ahn Hyun Ho as Kwak Min Jung, and Cha Kang Yoon as Choi Jin Soo.
When asked why he chose to direct The Art of Negotiation, Ahn Pan Seok shared, âUsually, when I start a project, I sit down with the writer and develop ideas together from scratch. But 'The Art of Negotiation' is the first time Iâve chosen a drama based on a completed script. As soon as I read it, I knew it had a solid story and compelling conflicts worth exploring, so I took it right away. Itâs a first in my career.â
Describing the dramaâs unique appeal, he said, âUnlike the dramas Iâve worked on in recent years, this one has a bit of a hard-boiled tone. Instead of focusing on soft romance, it's more like a war over money. Working on something like this again after a long time feels incredibly refreshing.â
Ahn Pan Seok also emphasized his commitment to realism, stating, âAll dramas have to feel real. The viewers should never feel like what theyâre watching is fake.â Given his track record of delivering realistic storytelling, expectations are high for how he will bring the world of M&A negotiations to life in The Art of Negotiation.
The director also expressed deep trust and satisfaction with the cast, saying, âThe actors fit their characters perfectly. Kim Dae Myung has a soft, gentle demeanor, but there's also strength underneath. Sung Dong Il, Jang Hyun Sung, and Oh Man Seok are, of course, fantastic as always. I also recommend keeping an eye on Ahn Hyun Ho and Cha Kang Yoonâboth deliver refreshingly natural and non-clichĂ© performances.â
Finally, Ahn Pan Seok praised Lee Je Hoonâs dramatic transformation for his role, saying, âFrom the moment he arrives on set until filming wraps, he completely embodies Yoon Joo No. Without a doubt, one of the biggest highlights of our drama is Lee Je Hoon himself.
