Former Vice President Kamala Harris was set to make an appearance at the 97th Academy Awards last night, but her plans appeared to change last minute.
Deadline reported as the red carpet began that security had been heightened ahead of Harris' appearance. The outlet later reported that Harris had decided not to attend, citing security concerns.

Former Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff later appeared to confirm that Harris would not be attending, as he shared a picture of his wife on X. The post, which has been viewed 5.1 million times as of reporting, shows Harris putting chips in a bowl and was captioned "Oscars watch party prep."
