Kanye West and his wife, Bianca Censori, continue to spend time in Tokyo, Japan, while West reportedly finishes his latest album. The rapper’s fans wonder when he plans to return to the States, as he’s lived abroad since mid-2024. In January 2025, he spent time with three of his kids in Tokyo. This occurred after previous reports suggested Kim Kardashian might be planning a legal battle if he tries to make Japan his forever home.
Kanye West and Bianca Censori are no strangers to the jet-setting lifestyle. And they’ve made a second home for themselves in Tokyo hotel rooms. Currently, West is working on his self-produced album, Bully, while abroad. “This album is 100% him,” a source close to West said, according to music journalist Touré claimed on Substack. “He’s producing everything 100% himself. This will be 100% Kanye West, which is hasn’t been in many, many years.”
According to Touré, West likes the anonymity of living in Japan, as he’s not stopped by fans or paparazzi. While this is likely helpful for West’s creative life, it’s unhelpful for Kim Kardashian, who cares for their four kids in Los Angeles. West and Kardashian share North, 11, Saint, 9, Chicago, 6, and Psalm, 5.
Exclusive photos from DailyMail.com show West finally reuniting with three of his kids in Tokyo after 118 days apart. Saint, Chicago, and Psalm were seen walking into a 7-Eleven with their dad in the Ginza district.
“A black van pulled out the front, and all of a sudden the kids have gone running in and Kanye followed behind, trying to hide in the 7-Eleven with his hood up,” a witness explained. “The kids were buying up the store — they had two carrier bags full of random lollipops and snacks. Myself and a couple of other families noticed him.”
North and Censori were not present for the outing. It remains unclear if North traveling to Tokyo to see West or if she remains in LA with Kardashian.
Kardashian reportedly evacuated her LA home in light of the fires, which is more than likely part of the reason for sending the kids to Tokyo.

However, co-parenting isn’t easy from a distance. A source told In Touch Weekly that Kardashian is “very worried” about what will happen if West and Bianca Censori move to Tokyo full-time.
“Rumors have been swirling for a while that Kanye intends to relocate to Tokyo and renegotiate his custody terms with Kim because he’ll want the kids to travel there frequently once he’s settled,” the insider explained. ” … It obviously poses all sorts of complications and challenges from a logistical point of view, and Kim’s very worried about what the future holds if he goes ahead.”
The source noted Kardashian will “lawyer up and likely fight him every step if necessary, but it’s obviously the last thing she wants or needs to be dealing with.”
Kim Kardashian likely doesn’t want Kanye West to move to Tokyo full-time. And Bianca Censori might be in the same camp. An insider told In Touch Weekly that Censori wants to make a full-time move back to LA.
“She’s been pushing for a more stable and settled life,” the source claimed. “The moving around and the constant changing of plans is driving her up the wall and she finally put her foot down and demanded they get a home base.”
The insider noted that West “dragging” Censori to Japan “left her very lonely.”
