Kanye West has revealed that heâs a fan of Kendrick Lamarâs recent Super Bowl Halftime Show, calling it his âfavouriteâ since Michael Jacksonâs iconic 1993 performance.
Yesterday (February 10), Compton rapper Kendrick Lamar made history by becoming the first solo rapper to headline the coveted Halftime Show. For the performance, he was joined by SZA and featured cameos from Samuel L. Jackson and Serena Williams.

Kanye said: âA few people been asking me âWhat did you think of the Kendrick Halftime Show?â and I really loved the show. It was my favourite Halftime Show since the Michael Jackson era, which I kind of just barely remember, I just be seeing clips of it.â
He went on to explain: âIt was super simple, the flag was fresh. When they did [âHUMBLE.â], the way peopleâs heads were moving. I was like, shook. This is like, super fresh. The manâs voice control and all that. And you know, of course they built up the controversy on whether heâs going to do [âNot Like Usâ]. And at the end, I saw people saying this is the worst Halftime Show and Iâm just like âeverybody I talked to in real life said this is the best Halftime Show'â.
RecommendedLamarâs performance has received mixed reactions from fans and viewers. Some have labelled it a âmasterpieceâ, while some have called it the âworst Super Bowl performance in the last decadeâ.
NME has ranked Kendrickâs performance as the third best Super Bowl performance of all time, only behind Michael Jacksonâs 1993 showcase in second place and Princeâs 2007 performance in first.
Westâs â now legally known as Ye â approval of Kendrick Lamarâs performance comes after a series of bizarre and controversial tweets he posted on X over the weekend before his account was deactivated.
AdvertisementOver the weekend, Ye launched a string of controversial posts that saw him withdraw his apology to the Jewish community for past anti-Semitic comments, as well as declaring himself as âa Naziâ.
He had also tweeted âI love Hitlerâ, praised billionaire and X-owner Elon Musk as âthe most lit person that [has] ever been on Twitterâ and claimed that all other people look up to him. Musk himself had drawn criticism and allegations of Nazism earlier this year when he made two Nazi-like gestures during Donald Trumpâs presidential inauguration.

The Witch marks Jinyoungâs highly anticipated drama comeback after completing his military service. Reflecting on his return, Jinyoung shared, âSince the drama was filmed before my enlistment, there was some pressure as an actor, but after I completed my service, the excitement outweighed the burden. Itâs a project we wrapped up two years ago, and as my first post-military project, I do feel nervous, but above all, Iâm just happy.â
He added, âAs a fan of Kang Fullâs webtoons, I know firsthand how powerful his storytelling is. It was an honor just to be part of his universe.â
Jinyoung also spoke about his approach to the character: âWhen I first cast as Dong Jin, I worked closely with the director to match the characterâs essence. Dong Jin has a dualityâheâs both brilliant and ordinary. I wanted that contrast to shine through in my voice and expressions, so I had many discussions with the director to shape the character.â
Playing the enigmatic Mi Jeong, Roh Jeong Eui described her deep connection to the role. âIâve been a fan of Kang Fullâs work for a long time, so I was more excited than pressured. Mi Jeong is a character who has cut herself off from the world due to the guilt she carries. While preparing for the role, I focused on emphasizing her loneliness through her eyes. She's different than the real me, so I learned a lot and received positive influences from her.â
With The Witch being adapted from a webtoon, many fans have been curious about the actorsâ synchronicity with their characters. Jinyoung commented, âSince itâs based on a webtoon, we had to consider the visual similarities. I worked closely with the makeup and costume teams to create a version of Dong Jin that felt true to both the original and the real world. We had a lot of discussions to get everythingâfrom outfits to small propsâjust right.â
Roh Jeong Eui added, âWhen reading a webtoon, you naturally imagine the charactersâ expressions and mannerisms. I tried to channel the atmosphere, gaze, and tone I had envisioned while reading.â
When discussing their on-screen chemistry, Jinyoung hinted at the dramaâs unique tone. âItâs a mix of romance and mystery. While emotions play a key role, thereâs also an investigative aspect to the story as the characters unravel secrets. Thatâs what drew me to the project. Of course, working with Roh Jeong Eui was also a great experience.â
Roh Jeong Eui echoed his sentiments, saying, âOur connection was so natural that we could communicate just through eye contact. Since we didnât have many direct dialogue scenes, a lot had to be conveyed through silent emotions. I think that made it even more special.â
Finally, director Kim Tae Kyun also teased some surprises: âJu Ji Hoon will make a special appearance in the first episode. His entrance will be so surprising. We worked together in 'Dark Figure of Crime,' and Iâve heard he was even more immersed in this role than he was in 'Dark Figure of Crime.' He even came to set with a coffee truck!â
He also revealed, âJin Sun Kyu will also make a special appearance and play a very important role in the drama. Many well-known actors will make surprise appearances in each episode, so I think it will add another layer of excitement for viewers.â
âThe Witchâ will premiere on February 15 at 9:10 p.m. KST.
