Kanye West slammed for selling copies of Cassie's hoodie from video of 2016 assault

Kanye West has been slammed for selling a hoodie seemingly identical to the one Cassie wore when Diddy was captured on film assaulting her in 2016.
The musician and fashion mogul â now known as Ye â recently posted a string of hate-filled rants on X/Twitter. Although his account appears to have been deactivated, social media users have shared screenshots of him advertising the hoodie.
The âCarnivalâ artist posted an image of what he dubbed the âLOVE HOODIEâ side by side with a screenshot of footage from the incident. Obtained and published by CNN in March, the video appeared to show Diddy beating his former partner Cassie, and throwing an unidentified object at her from a nearby table.
The footage aligned with testimony the singer had previously given in a lawsuit filed against the rap mogul, in which she claimed Diddy âbecame extremely intoxicated and punched [her] in the faceâ at the hotel, then followed her into the hallway and throwing glass vases at her after she tried to leave when he was asleep.
Social media users have called Westâs move to use that incident to sell hoodies âbeyond evilâ and âpossibly the worst thing heâs doneâ. Per The Standard, Ye also shared a post that read: âHey question if someone were to beat up their girlfriend in public, would that be considered domestic violence, or is that outdoor violence, or is it just public indecency? âŠ.Im just asking for a friend.â
His short-lived return to X after having previously been banned back saw him make a litany of hateful posts, including voicing his support for Diddy and Chris Brown and urged for the former to be released from prison amid sexual abuse allegations.
As for Diddy, earlier this month, it was reported that the rapper was expected to be hit with over 10 new civil lawsuits, according to a lawyer representing dozens of his alleged victims. He was arrested and charged with crimes including sexual trafficking and racketeering last September, and has since been held in a federal jail in his hometown awaiting trial, which is set to begin on May 5.

As for Chris Brown, besides the assault on Rihanna, he was reportedly under police investigation over the alleged battery of a woman in 2021, though charges that were later dropped due to âinsufficient evidenceâ. Then, in October 2023, he was sued for allegedly hospitalising a man after he beat him with a tequila bottle and stomped on him in a nightclub.
Elsewhere, Kanye also went on a rant withdrawing his apology to the Jewish community for past anti-Semitic comments, as well as declaring himself as âa Naziâ and a slew of other demeaning posts that targeted several communities.
Ye over the weekend had also said âI love Hitlerâ, praised billionaire and X-owner Elon Musk as âthe most lit person that [has] ever been on Twitterâ and claimed that all other people look up to him. Musk himself had drawn criticism and allegations of Nazism earlier this year when he made two Nazi-like gestures during Donald Trumpâs presidential inauguration.
Following Kanyeâs weekend rant, Friends star David Schwimmer called on action to be taken against rapper for his hate-filled âNaziâ posts, arguing that âsilence is complicityâ.
