Kate Middleton May Be Making Her Red Carpet Comeback Next Month
Kate Middleton and Prince William could be making a rare red carpet appearance at the BAFTA awards on February 16, according to insiders. Both Kate and William reportedly have "close ties" to the awards show and last attended in 2023.
Now that the holidays are over and January is in full swing, the world is waiting for Kate Middletonâs next royal appearance. The Princess of Wales is still easing into the swing of royal duties and prioritizing a full recovery after finishing chemotherapy last fall, but she could be walking the red carpetâand giving royal watchers a glamorous style momentâfor an event in February. According to a source, both Kate and Prince William have âclose tiesâ to the BAFTA Film Awards and could prioritize a joint coupleâs moment at the star-studded show.
Kate last stepped out at the BAFTAs with a dapper, black tuxedo-clad William in 2023. The Princess of Wales exuded goddess energy in an ethereal white one-shoulder Alexander McQueen gown, long black opera gloves, and statement gold floral earrings that dangled past her collarbonesâa far cry from the vintage-inspired, country chic outfits sheâs been sporting in recent months.

While the couple didnât step out at the award ceremony last year amid Kateâs battle with cancer, itâs become somewhat of an annual tradition for the Waleses: They first attended the BAFTAs in 2017, followed by appearances in 2018, 2019, 2020, and then 2023. Considering they didnât attend the BAFTAs in 2022 due to scheduling issues, insiders reportedly believe thereâs a possibility theyâll attend this year if all things align.
According to Express, the committee chair, Anna Higgs, is âhopefulâ Kate will be in attendance at the Royal Festival Hall event on February 16âand the team is âpulling out all the stopsâ to make it happen.
"BAFTA has close ties with William and Kate and is pulling out all the stops to try to secure Kate's presence at this year's awards,â insiders reportedly told The DailyMail. âIt sent her warmest wishes when she revealed her cancer diagnosis and hopes she will appear alongside William in what will be her big showbiz return since she's been in recovery."

However, thereâs also the chance that the princess will skip out on the A-list event to cut down on her royal engagements this year. The Daily Mail's royal correspondent Rebecca English recently cited insiders when saying that Kate will not be taking on her pre-diagnosis schedule when she increases her public-facing duties in 2025.Â

"There is no huge reset button that's going to be hit in January," insiders reportedly told English. "What we will actually see is a slow continuation of the princess balancing her recovery and her public-facing duties."
