According to a hairstylist Kate has ditched her signature Chelsea blow-dry in favour of a chic “Hollywood wave”.
Hair whizz Tim Pike, who has done Lily James’ hair, told Hello!: “Essentially, Kate has upgraded the style known as the 'Hollywood wave'.
“To achieve this, you would use either a smoothing cream or a nice blow dry spray.
“Blow dry your hair smooth, then using a large barrel wand, twist the hair round the tool, taking slightly thicker sections as you work. Once this is done, gently brush it out.
More on Princess Kate
"The way that Kate's done it slightly different; she's parted her hair at the back and then pushed it forward, so it looks like you've got that real, I call it a 'royal wave', but it just looks like you've got that real deep wave in the hair. It's beautiful."
Kate appeared glowing in the new photo, and looked relaxed in jeans and a gingham scarf.
The glorious snap was taken by photographer Matt Porteous who took the portrait in Windsor last summer.
Alongside the photo, Prince William shared a personal message praising Kate’s unwavering "strength" on Thursday.

Inside Princess Kate’s return to Royal duty: what will this year look like?
When it comes to her usual style, Kate often visits trusted hairdresser Richard Ward, who created the look for her 2011 wedding day.
Richard has now become synonymous with Kate’s signature hairdo – the ‘Chelsea blow dry’.
And he said perfecting the look starts from the very beginning and is as simple as using the right styling products, one of which being his own brand’s bulking spritz.

While Kate’s hair colour has changed slightly over the years, her tresses have always been a different shade of warm brunette.
So if you’re looking for a similarly natural shade and look, Richard Ward said it’s important to go to the hairdressers with a mission in mind.
Richard Ward previously told The Daily Mail: “Ask your stylist for three different shades of lowlights, one lighter than your natural base colour, one about the same and one slightly darker to create a multi-tonal effect in the same hues.
“Dyeing just a few strands of hair in each shade, as opposed to large sections, achieves a more natural look.”
