Kathy Griffin Finalizes Her Divorce Following Messy Breakup

The Los Angeles Times reported in July of 2024 that Griffin kicked Bick out of their marital home and refused to let him come to pick up his belongings. Griffin filed for divorce in December of 2023.

Bick claimed that he initially left the home for the weekend — anticipating the couple would be going to therapy together, and Griffin threatened to call the police if he returned, according to court documents obtained by In Touch.

"I packed a small duffle bag with some clothes and toiletries and left for the weekend," read the documents. "When I told [Kathy] that I would be returning home, she refused to allow me to return and threatened, without any basis whatsoever, to ‘call the cops’ if I were to return to the residence.”

Bick — a 45-year-old entertainment marketing executive — was eventually allowed to collect his belongings from the home with a “chaperone” after an agreement was reached with the 64-year-old comedienne.

Bick Claimed He Was Homeless Following The Breakup

Bick reportedly told the court that he was homeless after he was kicked out of the marital home he shared with Griffin. The entertainment executive also claimed he could not support himself and was looking for employment.

"Upon termination of our relationship, I not only found myself homeless, but also suddenly unemployed and without any source of income to financially support myself through this inherently expensive transition," according to the court documents. "I have not yet been successful in securing new employment but have been actively interviewing and pursuing a new position."

"I have always treated [Kathy] with love and respect and have never given her a reason to feel unsafe with me in the home," he continued. "Despite the fact that she has filed for divorce, there is no reason that I should not receive the courtesy and respect that I deserve as both a long-term employee and, more importantly, her husband and partner."

Griffin agreed to allow Bick in the home for his belongings as well as pay Bick $75,000 for his legal fees.

Griffin And Bick Had A Prenup

Griffin and Bick had a prenuptial agreement, and the former "Suddenly Susan" star asked the court to terminate any rights for spousal support for each party.

"Per the parties' December 2019 prenuptial agreement, no community property assets or debts were created during the parties’ marriage. The parties agree that no community property exists," read the court documents.

The Grammy Award-winning comedienne also agreed to pay all credit card debts and was awarded separate property assets, including her home in Malibu.

Griffin reportedly signed the divorce papers on Jan. 6, and Bick signed on Dec. 12. She divorced actor Matt Moline in 2006 after she accused him of taking money from her. The former couple were married for five years.

'Kathy Griffin: My Life On the PTSD-List'

Griffin said that she was taking things "one day at a time" regarding her divorce during an event last May. The comedienne had begun touring for her show, "Kathy Griffin: My Life On the PTSD-List," a play on her old Bravo show, "Kathy Griffin: My Life On the D-List."

“One day at a time,” she said, per PEOPLE. “One show at a time. I thank God for this tour. I thank God it happened. I'm just so grateful to be on tour, so it takes my mind off it."

Griffin Jokes About Donald Trump In Comedy Show

Griffin was investigated by the Secret Service after she posed with a fake severed head covered with ketchup that resembled Trump. She was also accused of being a member of ISIS, and her family was targeted with death threats, including her sister as she was dying of cancer.

"I was on the no-fly list for two months," said Griffin. "Like a terrorist, for two months. Then I was interrogated under oath by two federal agencies — the Secret Service and the Federal Attorney's Office.... They were considering very seriously charging me with the crime of conspiracy to assassinate the president of the United States."
