Do you have any idea how hard it has been for me to see Keke Palmer rocking red hair day after day for the past month and not run to my colorist to turn me into a redhead myself? Ugh—it is so good, but I'm just not red-y to commit to that big of a change (sorry, I had to). Thankfully, the One of Them Days star is now serving up a much more subtle but just as fun red beauty moment, and just in time for Valentine's Day.

Palmer took a break from promoting her new film to make a few other appearances in New York City, including lighting up the Empire State Building in honor of Black History Month and attending Brandon Maxwell's New York Fashion Week show. At both stops, Palmer was already channeling Valentine's Day vibes with her ensembles: a satiny, pale pink halter top and maxi skirt combo, and a form-fitting, long-sleeve, ruched red dress. And her nails were just as on-theme.

A close look at Palmer's hands reveals the cutest reverse French manicure. The base is the palest possible pink, sheerly coating almost the entirety of her almond-shaped nails. And instead of a traditional traditional tip, Palmer is wearing a contrasting color—a super-vibrant red—along her cuticles.

As much as Palmer may love an upside-down French manicure, she draws the line at the upside-down nails trend that Megan the Stallion recently wore. In a new video for Allure, Palmer didn't hold back. “This is horrifying," she said. “I've never seen anything scarier in my life. This is scary, guys. Oh, no! No, no, no, no, no. This is a absolutely not. And I'm sorry to anyone I offend, but you are monstrous with this on.” She goes on to repeat several more times how scary it is, declaring, “Nails could be any way but upside down.”

OK, so Palmer won't be wearing upside-down nails any time soon, I gather. But she's clearly game to switch up the direction of her French manicures, and I'm taking that photo above directly to my nail salon before next Friday.
