High-low styling—a.k.a. pairing expensive pieces with affordable buys—is nothing new, but it’s not something we see often on the red carpet. But last night at the Oscars, Kelly Ripa showed how it’s done, wearing a chiffon gown from designer Zuhair Murad’s 2025 resortwear collection with a $15 skin tint that you can buy at any drugstore.
Okay, I know that high-low dressing typically involves, well, dressing, but I loved Ripa’s approach; she proved that even with a black-tie dress code, the glam can be affordable. Her skin’s glow, which was thanks to L’Oréal Paris True Match Tinted Serum Foundation, might have cost less than $20 to achieve, but it looked like a million bucks.
