Kim Heechul revealed that he had been assigned a disability grade due to a severe injury in the past
AdvertisementOn the January 12 episode of SBSâs âMy Little Old Boyâ, Kim Heechul accompanied Kim Jongmin, who had recently announced his marriage, to visit a shaman.
The shaman told Kim Heechul, âYour life is like a bonus. You faced a critical moment in your 20s.â
Kim Heechul responded, âI had a major car accident back then.â The shaman emphasized, âYour bodyâs balance was destroyed. Be careful this July. You must take extra caution in the summer. If you break a bone or get a fracture, you could end up with a permanent disability.â
Kim Jongmin expressed surprise, âThatâs serious.â Kim Heechul then shocked everyone by confessing, âIâve never mentioned this before, but Iâm actually disabled.â
Kim Heechul suffered a significant accident in 2006. He shared, âThereâs a disability sticker for cars. I went to get it with my manager but decided not to take it, thinking âNo, I need to live a more active lifeâ, and turned back without it.â
AdvertisementKim Heechul said, âI didnât want to admit my body was in pain. I thought I could overcome it, and now itâs been 10 years. I also didnât tell my fans because I didnât want them to feel sad hearing that their oppa had a disability grade.â
His mother recalled the painful time, âEven now, it brings tears to my eyes. Itâs better now, but when he performed on stage, his legs hurt so much. His bones were crushed, and his femur was damaged, so they had to put in metal rods.â

She added, âThe doctor said he wouldnât be able to dance again, but after surgery, he could. Still, the pain made it difficult for him.â

In response to the report, Lee Chae Min's agency GOLDMEDALIST confirmed, Lee Chae Min received an offer [to star in] 'The Tyrant's Chef' and is reviewing the offer positively.
âThe Tyrantâs Chefâ tells the story of a chef who, at the peak of her career, time travels to the past. There, she meets a king known as the worst tyrant, but also the ultimate gourmet. The drama will be directed by Jang Tae Yoo, who has previously helmed hit dramas such as âMy Love from the Star,â âLovers of the Red Sky,â and âKnight Flower.â
Previously, Girlsâ Generationâs YoonA was offered the role of the tyrantâs chef, while Park Sung Hoon was in talks to play the male lead. However, in late December, Park Sung Hoon was embroiled in a controversy that led to the decision to step down from the drama, despite multiple apologies from the actor and his agency.
After leaving a strong impression in tvN's hit drama Crash Course in Romance, Lee Chae Min landed the lead role in the Netflix original series Hierarchy. This year, he is also set to star as the main character in MBC's upcoming Friday-Saturday drama Bunny and the Boys.
