For fashionâs biggest night, Kardashian stepped onto the Met Gala red carpet in a silver brocade corset designed by John Galliano for Maison Margiela. While the look was undoubtedly breathtaking, many fans questioned how she managed to squeeze into the corset without crushing her internal organs. As it turns out, Kardashian nearly did just that.
At the start of the episode, Kardashian appeared confident and upbeat about her controversial fashion choice.

Kim Kardashianâs Controversial 2022 Met Gala Look: Marilyn Monroeâs Iconic Dress
Kim Kardashian made headlines at the 2022 Met Gala when she stepped onto the red carpet in Marilyn Monroeâs legendary âHappy Birthday, Mr. Presidentâ dress, a historic fashion moment that quickly turned into a heated controversy.
The dress, designed by Jean Louis and originally worn by Marilyn Monroe in 1962, became an iconic piece of pop culture history when Monroe serenaded President John F. Kennedy at Madison Square Garden. The gown, made of sheer, nude-colored fabric and hand-embroidered with over 2,500 crystals, was famously so tight that Monroe had to be sewn into it before performing.
It was later purchased by Ripleyâs Believe It or Not! Museum for $4.8 million in 2016, making it one of the most expensive dresses ever sold at auction.
Kimâs Extreme Weight Loss For The Dress
Kim Kardashian, known for going all out for the Met Gala, was determined to wear the actual 60-year-old garment, but there was one problem. It didnât fit.
Instead of choosing an alternative, Kardashian embarked on an extreme crash diet, revealing that she lost 16 pounds in three weeks to fit into the dress. âI tried it on, and it didnât fit me. I said, âGive me three weeks,ââ she told Vogue. âIt was like a role. I was determined to fit into it.â
Her transformation involved cutting out carbs and sugar completely, running on a treadmill in a sauna suit, and strictly eating clean meals. While some praised the tribute to Monroe, others were outraged by Kardashianâs decision to alter her body just to fit into a historical artifact.
