Kim Porter spent years with Sean âDiddyâ Combs. The coupleâs on-and-off-again relationship brought them three children, and they remained friendly even after their final split. Porterâs first husband, singer Al B. Sure!, claimed that she still had some concerns about Combs. Al B. Sure! said Porter warned him about Combs.
Porter and Al B. Sure! were briefly married and shared a son. After their divorce, she began her relationship with Combs. She reportedly warned her ex-husband to steer clear of her new boyfriend.
âKimberly said donât get involved, you will get killed. Even to the point where I rememberâŚ,â he said in the documentary Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy (via Variety). âNah I canât go into that one. Thereâs legal proceedings going on right now. But yeah, I will share that at some point. But this is part of evidence and I have to refrain from this part of this segment.â

âLetâs just say, you gotta listen to Kimberly, because not only was she trying to save me, but she was putting her own life in danger,â he said.
Since the documentaryâs release, Combsâ legal team has pushed back against these claims.
âThis documentary recycles and perpetuates the same lies and conspiracy theories that have been slung against Mr. Combs for months,â his legal team said in a statement to E! News. âIt is disappointing to see NBC and Peacock rolling in the same mud as unethical tabloid reporters. By providing a platform for proven liars and opportunists to make false criminal accusations, the documentary is irresponsible journalism of the worst kind.â
Al B. Sure! also expressed doubt that Porterâs death was of natural causes. In 2018, she died of lobar pneumonia.Â
âThis person is telling a story, this personâs writing a book, this personâs about to tell the truth,â he said. âWhy is everybody dead? Oh, itâs a coincidence. Get the f*** out of here.âÂ
Porterâs children have previously pushed back against any speculation that their motherâs death was suspicious.
âWhile it has been incredibly difficult to reconcile how she could be taken from us too soon, the cause of her death has long been established,â Porterâs children wrote on Instagram. âThere was no foul play. Our mother should be remembered for the beautiful, strong, kind, and loving woman she was. Her memory should not be tainted by horrific conspiracy theories.â
When Porter and Combs split for the final time, she waited until he was out of town to pack up the house and leave in secret. She didnât think he would have allowed her to leave if sheâd broken up with him any other way.
â[T]here was no other way,â she told Essence. âYou think he would have let me walk out the door? He wouldnât have wanted me to go.â

âI left because at this point in my life I want something different for myself,â she said. âI invested ten years, I have children, and Iâve always stood by him. But now itâs time for me and what I want to do for Kim.â
