SEOUL, March 17 (Yonhap) -- Actor Kim Soo-hyun’s agency, Gold Medalist, has expressed a desire to meet with the late Kim Sae-ron’s mother privately, following allegations that Kim had dated Kim while she was a minor.
In a statement released on Saturday, Gold Medalist addressed remarks made by Kim Sae-ron’s mother via the YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute (Garo Sero Yeongu-so, GaSeYeon). “We have acknowledged the position of the late Kim Sae-ron’s mother as stated on GaSeYeon’s broadcast. However, there seem to be some discrepancies between our understanding and hers,” the agency stated.
Kim Sae-ron’s mother had previously stated through GaSeYeon, “Our only goal is to restore the honor of my child, who was destroyed in an instant by numerous false reports.”
Gold Medalist responded, saying, “Engaging in a public dispute is neither appropriate for restoring the late Kim Sae-ron’s honor nor respectful to her or her mother. We are concerned about the ongoing factual disputes being broadcast through GaSeYeon.”
The agency then extended an invitation for a private meeting, stating, “Our executives would like to meet with her mother in person and provide a thorough explanation. We would appreciate it if she could contact our office at any time.”
GaSeYeon has been raising allegations about Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Sae-ron’s relationship since March 10, citing a phone conversation with Kim’s family that claimed Kim Soo-hyun had dated Kim Sae-ron for six years, beginning in 2015 when she was 15. The channel later released a photo of Kim Soo-hyun kissing Kim Sae-ron on the cheek, followed by a screenshot of a message she sent him after receiving a legal notice. Additional photos of the two in affectionate poses have continued to surface.
Initially, Kim Soo-hyun’s agency denied any romantic involvement. However, following the release of the cheek-kissing photo, the agency admitted on March 14 that the two had dated but insisted that their relationship only began after Kim Sae-ron became an adult.
Gold Medalist further clarified, “The most recently released photo was taken on December 14, 2019. Based on metadata, all the photos published by GaSeYeon were taken after Kim Sae-ron became an adult.”
The agency also condemned the unauthorized release of personal images, stating, “There is no valid reason for private photos of Kim Soo-hyun and the late Kim Sae-ron to be indiscriminately exposed. We urge an immediate halt to the dissemination of their private lives.”
