King Charles' 'nickname for Meghan Markle that pointed to her personality'
He is said to have found Meghan to be 'resilient'
King Charles reportedly had a strange nickname for his daughter-in-law Meghan Markle. The monarch is said to have acknowledged Meghan's mental resilience when he was Prince of Wales.
He called Meghan 'Tungsten' due to her being 'tough' and 'unbending'. The unusual nickname was a compliment to Meghan's tenacity - and it soon stuck.
The Royal Family have been known to give each other nicknames behind closed doors. Charles is said to have felt it was only right for Meghan to have one too when she married Prince Harry.

A palace source told the Mail On Sunday's Charlotte Griffiths in June 2018: "Prince Charles admires Meghan for her strength and the backbone she gives Harry, who needs a tungsten-type figure in his life as he can be a bit of a softy. It's become a term of endearment."
In the 2022 book 'The New Royals: Queen Elizabeth's Legacy and the Future of the Crown', Katie Nicholl revealed more details about the nickname. She said Charles found Meghan to be 'resilient' and was able to hold her own, Mirror reports.
He labelled Meghan a 'breakout star' because she came across as 'polished, passionate, and funny'. An impressed Charles reportedly told friends: "She is so intelligent and so nice. She makes Harry happy. We could not like her more."
