King Charles marked the start of The King's Foundation's 35th anniversary celebrations today by placing the first item in a commemorative time capsule at Dumfries House.
The King, who serves as Royal Founding President of the charity he established in 1990, joined community representatives, students, alumni and ambassadors for the celebratory event.
The time capsule will collect items throughout 2025 representing the achievements and legacy of The King's Foundation, particularly focusing on what inspired people to protect the built and natural world.
The King's Foundation works to build sustainable communities and transform lives, with an emphasis on protecting and promoting nature.
On Tuesday, it was announced that Sir Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster have become ambassadors of The King's Foundation.

The charity's early work began at the Institute for Architecture, which focused on building sustainable towns and cities, with Poundbury as an early project.

Once collated, the time capsule will be buried on the Dumfries House estate and is set to be opened in 100 years' time.

Throughout the anniversary year, The King's Foundation will gather contributions from students, alumni, ambassadors and partners for inclusion in the capsule.
Items will be selected based on their representation of the Foundation's achievements and what motivated individuals to dedicate themselves to protecting the built and natural environment.
The project will also maintain a digital presence on the Foundation's website and social media channels.
Over the past 35 years, The King's Foundation has enriched hundreds of thousands of lives through its community regeneration projects and education programmes.
The charity currently supports 15,000 students annually across its educational initiatives.
