King Charles 'snubs BBC' as he prepares to release new show
King Charles has reportedly snubbed the BBC as he prepares to release a new TV show, about the environment, on Amazon. It comes as the broadcaster continues to come under pressure
King Charles reportedly snubbed the BBC in favour of Amazon when deciding who would assist him in producing an environmental documentary.
The assertion was made by Ephraim Hardcastle in the Daily Mail, suggesting that the King "preferred Amazon's promise of final editorial control".
Mr Hardcastle also noted that the King has a history of bypassing the BBC for certain appearances, including his interview with Jonathan Dimbleby which aired on ITV.
Additionally, it was hinted that the 76-year-old monarch had declined the chance to guest edit the Radio 4 Today programme at Christmas, as he did not wish to be in London during that period.
These allegations about both King Charles and the BBC emerge at a critical juncture for both the Royal Family and the national broadcaster, during a significant year for these British institutions. King Charles is still recuperating from an undisclosed type of cancer for which he underwent treatment last year.
Despite the gruelling nature of cancer therapy, he has persisted in fulfilling Royal duties. His personal battle with cancer, shared by Princess Kate, has motivated thousands across the UK, especially following other celebrity diagnoses.
Alongside his daughter-in-law, dancer Amy Dowden and Olympic icon Sir Chris Hoy have also been very open about their cancer battles.
On World Cancer Day, the King issued a public message, joining forces with other well-known figures, to raise awareness of the disease, reports the Express.
In a heartfelt message shared on the Royal Family's official social media account, it was stated: "This World Cancer Day, we are sending love to all those navigating a cancer diagnosis â as well as the incredible doctors, nurses, charities and families who work tirelessly to support them."
Following the post, social media saw an outpouring of admiration for King Charles and other public figures who courageously addressed the issue.

The corporation has faced allegations of bias from various political factions regarding its coverage of events such as Brexit and the Israel-Hamas conflict.
Delving into the debate over bias, the Reuters Institute commented on the broad trust still held by the populace in the broadcaster.
They noted: "The BBC is very widely used across the political spectrum. It is the most popular source of news among both Conservative and Labour voters, and among both Leave and Remain voters."
Furthermore, they added: "Though the BBC is slightly less trusted by people who identify with the political right than by people in the centre and on the left, it is still as trusted on the right as major conservative newspapers."
Both King Charles's office and the BBC have declined to issue any statements on the matter.
