Klay Thompson Glazes ‘Insane’ LeBron After Hitting a Career Milestone
Klay Thompson takes some time out of his postgame preconference to talk about LeBron James amid his own achievement.
Klay Thompson is a very decorated NBA player. His four NBA championships, alongside a boatload of records and achievements, almost guarantee his entrance into the NBA Hall of Fame. However, in the world of professional sports, sometimes greatness just needs to be appreciated. Thompson understands how important LeBron James is to basketball. The Dallas Mavericks guard also understands that James is arguably the greatest player of all time. Last night, Thompson had to let everyone know just how good LBJ really is.
Sports Illustrated reports that on Sunday night, Klay Thompson and his Dallas Mavericks took on the Denver Nuggets. While the Mavericks would go on to drop that game with a final score of 112-101, Klay would score his 16,000th career point. However, Thompson had to bring up an “insane” LeBron James record that may never be broken. When talking about his achievement of reaching 16,000 points, Klay claimed that the milestone is “cool.” However, the four-time champ stated, “It makes you realize how ridiculous it is that LeBron has 40,000. That’s insane!” He would close out his interview by speaking on how great the moment was for him and his family.
Thompson is no stranger to making noise at the NBA level. The guard was originally drafted by the Golden State Warriors back in 2011. GSW would use the 11th overall pick in that draft to attain a crucial part of their coming sports dynasty. Paired next to another Warriors legend, Steph Curry, the “Splash Bros” would change the game of basketball forever.
As for LeBron James, he knows Klay Thompson very well from their iconic battles in four straight NBA Finals. Debatably, the most impressive feat of LBJ’s career was taking down the 2016 Golden State Warriors led by Klay Thompson and Steph Curry. That GSW team still holds the NBA record for best regular season record as they went 73-9. However, the current Cleveland Cavaliers team led by Donovan Mitchell could be a threat to the Warrior’s NBA record.
Despite their history, Klay Thompson still found time during his own interview to talk up LeBron James. Interactions like that seem to show just how important James is to the sports world. A Legacy like his leaves all others star-struck as they attempt to play catch up. With Klay’s career nearing an end, it should be very interesting to see what else the sharpshooter can accomplish before he hangs up the jersey for good.
