Koo Jun-yup’s Mother-in-Law Declares War on Late Barbie Hsu’s Ex-Husband Wang Xiaofei
Singer Koo Jun-yup’s mother-in-law Huang Chunmei, the mother of late Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, has declared war against Barbie Hsu’s ex-husband, businessman Wang Xiaofei
According to Taiwanese media outlet ETtoday on February 13, Huang Chunmei spoke for the first time since Barbie Hsu‘s passing on February 10, expressing her emotions. She said “How can I fill the emptiness in my heart? I do not believe that justice cannot be restored. I will go to war. Please support me”, drawing attention. The media outlet interpreted this declaration as a direct proclamation of war against Wang Xiaofei and his family.
Fans rallied around Huang Chunmei, encouraging her by saying, “Let’s unite and seek justice for Barbie Hsu.”
According to the media, Wang Xiaofei returned to Beijing, China with his new wife on February 11, leaving behind the two children he had with Barbie Hsu in Taiwan. Reports also stated that he did not attend Barbie Hsu’s funeral.
As a result, the public criticized him, “Wang Xiaofei’s love drama is over.” On the night of his return to China on February 3, following the news of Barbie Hsu’s passing, Wang Xiaofei was spotted walking in the rain without an umbrella, seemingly putting on a show for the press. Additionally, false rumors spread that his mother had covered the funeral costs in Japan and the charter flight expenses for transportation to Taiwan.
Due to this controversy, Wang Xiaofei and his mother Zhang Lan had their Weibo and TikTok accounts permanently removed, facing an indefinite ban from Chinese social media.

Reports confirmed that Barbie Hsu owned at least two luxury properties: one near the National Museum and another in Xinyi, Taipei, with a combined estimated market value of 600 million NTD. Under Taiwanese civil law, upon Barbie Hsu’s passing, her two children are entitled to inherit two-thirds of her estate, with Wang Xiaofei as their legal guardian.

Legal experts emphasized that Barbie Hsu’s mother is the most critical figure in the estate distribution process. They stated, “She has the right to request Wang Xiaofei’s parental authority be suspended until the children reach adulthood. Barbie Hsu’s mother is acting in the best interest of the children and exercising her legal rights.” However, they also cautioned, “Although Wang Xiaofei’s parental authority may be suspended, he still has the right to request reinstatement through the court, meaning a legal battle is inevitable.”
Meanwhile, Koo Jun-yup vowed to protect Barbie Hsu’s family and children from Wang Xiaofei. On his SNS, he declared, “The inheritance was something Barbie Hsu worked hard to secure to protect her beloved family, so I will entrust all my authority to my mother-in-law.” He added, “Through legal measures, I will ensure that the children’s rights remain protected until they become adults, preventing bad people from touching them.”
Koo Jun-yup also criticized Wang Xiaofei and his family’s actions, “Before we could even process our immense grief and mourning, these devilish people began defaming our family and my love. One pretended to be sad, wandering in the rain, while others spread fake news about insurance and expenses to tarnish our family.”
Barbie Hsu passed away on February 2 while traveling in Japan for Lunar New Year with her family, due to acute pneumonia caused by influenza. She was cremated in Japan, and her estate is estimated to be worth around 600 million yuan.
Barbie Hsu married Wang Xiaofei in 2011 and had a son and daughter together. However, after ten years of marriage, they divorced in November 2021. She later married Koo Jun-yup on February 8, 2022.
