Lady Gaga has revealed that her seventh studio album, titled ‘Mayhem’, will be released on March 7th.
The announcement was teased via billboards that appeared in New York and Las Vegas. The distorted album cover art, featuring the singer with a black hair gazing through cracked shards of glass, was revealed alongside a horror-themed teaser on her IG page.
The album is expected to be a genre-splicing collection, fusing the pop-electronic pedigree of Gaga’s earlier releases with her off-piste experiments that featured in her later solo and side projects.
“The album started as me facing my fear of returning to the pop music my earliest fans loved,” Gaga revealed, describing her creative process as “reassembling a shattered mirror: even if you can’t put the pieces back together perfectly, you can create something beautiful and whole in its own new way.”
‘Mayhem’ will be Gaga’s follow-up to pandemic-era collection, ‘Chromatica’. Internet sleuths have uncovered the 14-track tracklist revealed in another teaser: only one track is marked explicit. The album features French electronic artist Gesafelstein and will include singles, ‘Disease’ and ‘Die With a Smile’.
The suspected tracklist is as follows:
1. DISEASE
2. ABRACADABRA
3. GARDEN OF EDEN
4. PERFECT CELEBRITY
5. VANISH INTO YOU
6. KILLAH (ft. Gesafelstein)
7. ZOMBIEBOY
8. LOVEDRUG
9. BAD DO I WANT
10. DON’T CALL TONIGHT
11. SHADOW OF A MAN 1
2. THE BEAST
13. BLADE OF GRASS
14. DIE WITH A SMILE (with Bruno Mars)
The album reveal follows a week-long countdown on Gaga’s official website, which saw each day pay homage to her previous eras.
