There seem to be two sets of rules in the NHL, one for the Oilers and another for whoever they are playing. Too often there is no call when an Oiler is hit or hurt, but Oilers are constantly called for a minor or no infraction. Why aren’t the refs called to task and fined for their missed calls?

Bad cut
Far be it for me to critique the federal government for trimming staff in its exceedingly bloated civil service, but this move doesn’t seem well thought out. Recent reports state that over 3000 jobs in the immigration department will soon be eliminated. With people still waiting years to have their cases heard at immigration hearings, there must have been other departments that could have been trimmed that don’t have the massive backlogs that currently plague immigration.

(It’s a mess.)
Election now
Trudeau and his Liberals think only of themselves and not Canada. Seventy percent of Canadians have had enough of the damage they have done to our country and want an election. Trudeau’s ego won’t let that happen so he shut down the government, right we need a functioning government with Trump’s tariff threats. Trudeau stood at our border yelling everyone come to Canada. Many thousands came and then some walked across the border to the U.S. That is what Trump is talking about and he is right.

Canada First
I totally disagree with Premie Smith’s Alberta-first, anti-Canada stand. We are facing an unprecedented external threat, the greatest threat to our sovereignty since the War of 1812.  Canada must have a united front to stand up against the bully Trump. Any apparent cracks in Canada’s posture will likely result in Trump continuing his tariffs as he might feel he is dealing with a weak, divided Canada. The Canadian response at the federal and provincial level must be negotiated behind closed doors to ensure that it is united, and effective while being fair to all regions of Canada. While most Albertans might dislike Trudeau, he still is the PM and we must get behind him.
Doug Brooks
(The Trudeau government has some work to do on the ‘fair to all regions’ bit.)
