Kate Cassidy shared how she felt in the seconds after finding out her boyfriend, Liam Payne, had died.
The One Direction singer was on holiday in Argentina with Kate in the days leading up to his death. However, she soon left the country and returned to their rented home in Florida. Two days after she left, Liam fell to his death aged 31 on October 16, falling from the balcony of his third-floor hotel room.
He died after suffering multiple traumas leading to an "internal and external haemorrhage". While Kate has shared heartbreaking tributes to Liam on her social media, she hasn't spoken out about his death in interviews until now. She revealed she was scrolling through TikTok when she had a sudden bad feeling in her gut.
Speaking about how she found out, she said: âI feel blessed I didnât find out over social media because I just couldnât even imagine that. I was in our home with our dog, scrolling TikTok and one of Liamâs friends called me. That moment, itâs like blank; itâs blacked out in my head.

INSTAGRAM)âI didnât believe it at first. I thought it was just a rumour. Or something that somebody made up just to get views. Then instantly I just had a bad feeling in my gut. I was like, âWhy would somebody make this up? Is this true?â And I feel like I just completely blacked out. When I officially found the news out to be true, I felt numb.â
She continued to The Sun that she âtried to callâ Liam in the hope the news wasn't true. Kate then reached out to Liam's family and also called her mum for support â who âinstantlyâ flew across the US to be with her. Kate added: âI remember pacing around the house â poor Nala thought I was trying to play, she kept jumping up at me. I didnât sleep at all that night.â
Kate and Liam met in September 2022 when she worked as a waitress in Charleston, South Carolina. At the time, Liam had been on a US road trip with his friends yet delayed his flight back to London so he could get to know Kate. They booked a hotel room and spent the next two days together, which ended up cementing their romance.
When she paid tribute to him on social media, Kate revealed they had been hoping to take their relationship to the next level. She said: âA few weeks ago we sat outside on a beautiful evening manifesting our lives together. I keep your note close, even though you told me not to look at it.
âIt said: 'Me and Kate to marry within a year/engaged and together forever 444. Liam, I know we'll be together forever, but not in the way that we planned. You'll always be with me. I've gained a guardian angel. I will love you for the rest of my life and beyond, carrying our dreams and memories with me wherever I go. Forever yours, Katelyn, 444.â

tvN's new weekend drama The Potato Lab has unveiled its first in-depth look of Kang Tae Oh's character!
âThe Potato Labâ is a new romantic comedy drama set in a rural potato research institute. The story follows Kim Mi Kyeong (Lee Sun Bin), a researcher whose life revolves entirely around potatoes, and So Baek Ho (Kang Tae Oh), a cold and principled corporate director. When So Baek Ho unexpectedly enters Kim Mi Kyeongâs world, the two find themselves entangled in a whirlwind romance.
The newly released stills capture So Baek Ho wearing an immaculate suite with a radiant smile. With a bouquet of flowers, So Baek Ho creates a warm and approachable atmosphere, but he is actually a cold-hearted man who only goes by the books. Thus, when he does not smile, he shows his cold and strict nature, as shown in a still where he holds someone down, exuding great charisma.
However, another photo captures So Baek Ho looking disheveled, completely unlike his usual self, making viewers curious to find out what has happened and what changes he will face at the potato research institute.
Kang Tae Oh shared, When I first came across the script for 'The Potato Lab, I felt the warm and healing vibes. I thought that this will be a great project to return with. I chose 'The Potato Lab' because I felt like it would create great memories.
The actor further used the key word principled to describe So Baek Ho, commenting, Baek Ho is a figure who makes every decision and action based on his own principles. Although he may seem like a slightly stern and cold person, I worked hard to delicately express his transformation process as he becomes one with the villagers and the potato research institute after meeting Kim Mi Kyung. He continued, Baek Ho is like a potato that was peeled in running water. A potato that has been cleanly peeled looks sleek like Baek Ho.
