Liam Payne's girlfriend shares devastating admission after death threats
Liam Payne's girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, has opened up about the backlash she received from trolls over what she wore to the One Direction star's funeral
In a heart-wrenching turn of events, Liam Payne's girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, has come forward to share the harrowing experience of receiving death threats after the beloved singer's untimely demise. In the wake of his passing, Kate found herself retreating from social media as she was bombarded with cruel messages from trolls, who even went as far as to critique her attire at Liam's funeral, where she donned a black trench coat paired with high-heeled boots.
The 25 year old is bravely facing the storm, trying to remain resilient in honour of the One Direction star's memory. She confessed, "One hate comment is equivalent to a hundred nice comments so it's hard but I understand that. Liam would want me to be as strong as I can be, and just have a thick skin," revealing the strength she's mustering amidst the turmoil.

Kate fondly remembered Liam's advice, reflecting on his positive outlook: "That's one thing he always taught me. He grew up in this life, and he always was just so positive about it and said, 'Don't let any hate get to you'."
Despite the negativity, Kate expressed her appreciation for the overwhelming support from the One Direction community, while also acknowledging the darker aspects of fame. Opening up to The Sun about the backlash, she explained, "I understand that some of the most negative comments come from a place of loving Liam, and concern, and caring for Liam. So, I understand that because I love Liam too. But for sure it's hard because obviously any criticism will get to you."
The model opened up about the shocking level of animosity she's endured from the late singer's devotees, revealing that she's been on the receiving end of death threats. Speaking to the press, she shared, "Yeah, I have some [death threats] and some of my DMs are, well, I can't even put it into words exactly.", reports the Mirror US.

The intensity of the online vitriol led Kate to temporarily ditch social media, and she plans to keep taking intermittent breaks from the platforms. Her candid confession follows her expression of remorse for leaving Argentina, admitting that had she anticipated Liam's untimely passing, she would never have left. Reflecting on her departure, she confessed, "I had a responsibility, we had a responsibility."
Kate also touched on their life together, adding, "We had our dog and obviously I never, ever thought this would occur. It was a tragic accident and no, I never did think [he might die young]. But, you know, we did have our own separate lives - this wasn't the first time we have traveled separately."
