Lil Nas X Health Scare: Hospitalized After Losing Face Muscle Control
Lil Nas X shared a hospital update after revealing he lost control of half his face, sparking speculation about facial paralysis including Bell's palsy
Lil Nas X says heâs âlost controlâ of half of his face.
The rapper, 26, posted an Instagram video from his hospital bed on Monday, April 14, writing in a caption, âSoooo lost control of the right side of my face ????.â
In the clip, he shares the news in disbelief and tries to smile normally.
âThis is me doing a full smile, by the way,â he said, showing how the right side of his face was immobile compared with his left.Â
âI canât even laugh, bro!â he said. âWhat the f***? Oh my God.â
The Grammy winnerâs friends and fans left supportive messages in the comments section of his post.

âGet well baby ????????????????????????,â Taraji P. Henson wrote, while Holly Robinson Peete asked, âIs it Bellâs palsy? If so, thatâs not funny. ???? I hope you get better soon. ????????????????????????????????.â
According to the Mayo Clinic, Bellâs palsy is âa condition that causes sudden weakness in the muscles on one side of the face. Often the weakness is short-term and improves over weeks. The weakness makes half of the face appear to droop. Smiles are one-sided, and the eye on the affected side is hard to close.â
It is not known what causes the temporary facial paralysis, though medical experts believe âitâs caused by swelling and irritation of the nerve that controls the muscles on one side of the face,â Mayo Clinic stated on its website.Â
Celebrities who have experienced Bellâs palsy include George Clooney, Katie Holmes and Angelina Jolie.
Lil Nas Xâs health setback comes a month after he released new songs from his upcoming second studio album, Dreamboy. At the time, the âOld Town Roadâ hitmaker revealed that heâd nearly collaborated on music with Taylor Swift, but the project fell apart before coming to fruition.
âWe were working on something,â he told E! News in late March. âShe offered to let me try a verse on something, but I couldnât catch a vibe for it, so it didnât happen.â

âIâm proud of my girl,â he said. âI love the album. Sheâs been doing her thing. Sheâs at the very tippety top. Iâm thankful that she even considered me.â
