Mother of God! Line Of Duty will be back for a seventh series.
One of its stars, Christina Chong, says the cast have been asked about their availability for later in the year. The actress who played DI Nicky Rogerson in series two and six of the BBC show, let slip at a Hollywood Saturn Awards last week.
Asked about talk of a return, Christina, 41, said: “So I have been asked about a season, is it seven? Yeah. Potentially Nicola Rogerson will be back for season seven.” Last year Adrian Dunbar, who plays Supt Ted Hastings, said writer Jed Mercurio was working on a new script. “He is writing… we haven’t got a script on the desk yet,” he said.

Series six of the bent coppers saga about anti-corruption unit AC-12 ended in 2021 with the unmasking of seemingly bumbling DCI Ian Buckells (Nigel Boyle) as organised crime kingpin H.
Christina's character first appeared in Line of Duty series two back in 2014. Her character, who works in the Major Violent Crime unit, became a love interest for DS Steve Arnott and became an informant for him and AC-12. She said the BBC programme’s global success “changed her life.” “I didn’t think it was going to be as big but I still to this day get recognised from that," she said. "It lifted my profile another level, and working with Jed Mercurio, who’s become a huge success internationally as well.”
The actress, who has also appeared in Black Mirror, Doctor Who, and 24: Live Another Day, is excited to reunite with Vicky McClure, Martin Compston and Adrian Dunbar. "I worked with Martin Compton on a horror film. It's one of my first jobs. I think back in the day it was called Red Mist or Freak Dog. The name changed. So when I see Martin, it is almost like a homecoming where it's like, wow, you were there when I first started out. And everyone is so lovely on that set. And even Jed, I remember last time I went back during the pandemic, Jed wasn't meant to be at set, but he came to set to say hi. And I was like, wow, that's so nice.”

Chong hopes that fans will not get to see the true identity of H so that the show continues beyond 2026 for a “selfish reason”. “I don't think they should, because then that means Line Of Duty will be over," she said.
She also opened up on how her career is exploding in Hollywood thanks to a huge role as La'an Noonien Singh in the Paramount+ original series Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. She has received huge acclaim and award nominations and is now plotting a music career too by recording her first album with Ed Sheeran collaborators.
“I am currently working on an album. Jake Gosling is producing who works with Ed Sheeran. I'm actually in Nashville next week recording and just loving it. Star Trek brought me that, my singing for it. And so my dream is to end up at the O2 in the UK with a gig. There'll be an EP probably coming out with season three (0f Star Trek). I am co-writing everything.”
