Lola Kirke will release new album ‘Trailblazer’ on March 21st.
The UK-American actress and songwriter is in introspective mode right now, with her book Wild West Village – a memoir-in-essays – tracing her unique, sometimes dysfunctional upbringing in London and New York City.
Alongside this, Lola has laid out plans for a new album. Steeped in Americana and country, ‘Trailblazer’ was constructed alongside some of the best songwriting talent in Nashville – Natalie Hemby, Ashley Monroe, Jon Decious, Jason Nix and Delaney Ramsdell.
Produced by Danial Tashian (Kacey Musgraves, Sarah Jarosz), the powerhouse cast amplifies Lola Kirke’s own urge to communicate her truth. “I wrote a lot of this album while writing my book, sitting in a trailer between scenes of a movie I was acting in, in which my character was covered in fake blood, which I don’t entirely recommend as it’s very sticky,” she jokes.
A work of honesty, the record is shot through with Lola’s unique experiences. “Now I see the value in being who I actually am,” she explains. “It’s certainly a lot easier than trying to be someone else.”
Vivid new song ‘Hungover Thinkin’ deals with mistakes, regrets, and attempting to push back against your internal critic – universal themes, as we’re sure you’ll agree.
Tune in now.
Lola Kirke plays Grand Ole Opry on March 21st.
