Loose Women star told to 'get out' in awkward date with Hollywood legend
The Loose Women star and Coronation Street actress opened up about her past and present love life, which included a very awkward date with a Hollywood legend
Loose Women star Sherrie Hewson once had a very awkward date with Steve McQueen, the American actor who died in 1980.
After Steve visited her drama school in the 1970s, Sherrie said she was the chosen student who went on a bus ride with him, as he hadn't been on one before.
The actress says things got off to an awkward start when she chose to go barefoot, much to Steve's dismay.
"He thought it was absolutely horrific, which it was," she recalled.
"I was 18, and he was 20 years older. Afterwards, his people wanted to say thank you, so they took me to a restaurant in Chelsea."
The former Coronation Street star said with the menu being hard to understand in French, she accidentally ordered clam chowder, all while being allergic to fish.
Speaking to Best Magazine, the 74-year-old said: "I was eating clam chowder and after a few mouthfuls, I projectile vomited over him.
Sherrie Hewson left American actor Steve McQueen 'covered in sick'
"He was wearing a white polo neck sweater, which he always wore, and his people rushed in and dragged me out of the restaurant and onto the pavement."
If that wasn't awkward enough, the actress said she then threw up over the actor's shoes and trousers when he stepped outside.
Recalling the brutal response from his team, she added: "They threw me into a black cab and yelled 'Get her out of here'.
"As I drove off, I could see Steve McQueen from the window, covered in sick and I thought he'll never marry me now."
In the same chat with the publication, Sherrie insisted her dating life wasn't much better at present following her last divorce.
Since her split from her second husband Ken Boyd, the actress says she hasn't "felt the urge to go near anyone else again".
The former couple, who share a daughter together, were married for 28 years before separating in 2001.
Ahead of this, she was married to the artist Hector Blamey for two years, before their divorce in 1974.
