Lorraine Kelly issued apology as change made after her 'hurtful' admission

Lorraine Kelly has been issued an apology from the person behind a social media account after she came out and officially branded it 'hurtful' for the first time.

The presenter has been at the helm of her own self-titled show on ITV since 2010. But more recently Lorraine has often missed her Friday show and been covered by a guest presenter, such as Ranvir Singh or Christine Lampard.

This has led to a viral Twitter/X account called Where is Lorraine? (@LorraineKWatch) documenting what days the star presents her show - and when she doesn't - as well as when she appears on other TV or radio shows when she hasn't been hosting her own programme, dubbed 'Bonus Lorriane'.

The page currently has over 26,000 followers but as now said "the joke has run its course and it is time for it to end" after Lorraine spoke about the account in a new interview, calling it "really hurtful".

She told The Guardian: "It’s really hurtful actually. It really is. I’ve not spoken about it before. I’m a grafter and I work really hard and I’ve had to take Fridays off for the past year. I just thought it was weird to care so much."

She explained how she’d initially started taking some time off from her show to help her mum, who had been ill.

She added: "And it sort of brings you into line with everyone else because if you look at This Morning, everybody else does four days.

"And as I’m getting older, I want to do other things, more writing, all of that. Mate, I’ve been doing this for 40 years, working my a**e off."

She added: "Maybe it just started off as a wee joke, but it’s the way that everyone piles on. It starts off as a wee tiny thing and it gets bigger and bigger. I find it really sad."

But now, the account has confirmed it will come to a close. A message posted on Sunday (March 9) read: "I have always said that if Lorraine or her team reached out and asked me to stop this account then I would.

"While I have not had contact with Lorraine or anybody affiliated with her, her comments in this weekend’s The Guardian make it clear that the joke has run its course and it is time for it to end.

"I have said time and time again that this was only ever meant to be fun and I’m very grateful to everybody who has enjoyed it with me.

"There was never any intention of hurting Lorraine’s feelings and I am sorry if I have done so. Goodbye my Lorrainvirstines."
