Jordan - the only player to have scored in three consecutive World Cups for Scotland - was one of the very few Scots to have made an impact in Italy when he played for AC Milan and then Verona in the early 1980s.
But now McTominay and Billy Gilmour play for Napoli, Lewis Ferguson is the captain of Bologna, Che Adams is Torino's top scorer and Liam Henderson has been in Italian football for seven years and currently plays for Empoli.
And Jordan has been impressed by them all.
He said: "Pride and work ethic - these are the values of the Scottish players in Italy.
"With Scott McTominay, Manchester United made a terrible mistake selling him. A mistake that I can only explain because of the confusion that has reigned in the club in recent years.
"He was at United for seven years, he was a starter, he played over 200 games, he won several cups. He's athletic, technical and has the ability to score a lot of goals.
He left a void in the middle of the pitch at United, increasing the problems of a team that already struggles to score goals.
"I look at the stats and I see that he has always played. He suits Napoli and Napoli suits him

"I don't know why United sold him - they definitely made a mistake. They're confused and they've changed too much in the last three or four years.
"Billy Gilmour hasn't played as much, but I like him too. He's not very big physically, but he's an intelligent player. For him, and even more so for McTominay, Napoli remains a great opportunity.

"Che Adams is a typical Scottish footballer - hard-working, always pressing. He also has a good eye for goal, having already scored seven goals by February without taking penalties, which is significant.
"Liam Henderson has got plenty of experience in Italian football having played for five different teams - that shows the confidence managers have in his ability.
"And Lewis Ferguson is now back from injury too.
"He's a complete midfielder. Effective in both attacking and defensive movements and with a strong finishing ability and I am not surprised he has been compared to McTominay.
"He also has a big personality as was proved when he was made captain of Bologna - a sign of a perfect adaptation to the team and the city."
