Michael Douglas exposes Davina McCall's blonde wig

Davina McCall was prepared to find out if she would have more fun on Saturday night - as she showcased a stunning new look with blonde hair.

The 57-year-old TV host was back on screens for the latest rounds of madcap entertainment on ITV's hit family show, The Masked Singer. And she looked electric wearing a daring pink and black animal print leopard suit from and cropped blonde pixie locks.

Davian is well known for her dark hair and fans were astonished to see her rocking the new look when she took her seat at the judges table. And fortunately Michael Douglas was on hand to explain exactly what was going on - as some fans were confused by Davina's rapid change in appearance.

The hairdresser - who has been in a relationship with Davina since 2017 and is not to be confused with the Hollywood superstar married to Catherine Zeta Jones that has the same name - shared footage and photos of his beloved as they larked around with her hairpiece. Once short clip showed Michael pulling the hair off Davina's head - while her expression changed from delight to disappointment.

He wrote in an Instagram post that took fans behind-the-scenes of the show: "My absolute favourite of the series this week. The wig was lent to us by @amberjeanshop and I’ve been so grateful for their help with the hair this season of @maskedsingeruk on @itv.

"I love using the wigs they keep things really simple and really quick and @davinamccall looks absolutely stunning in it. I had to style it a little bit using the @mdlondon STRAIT Which you can find out more about mdlondon.com and also one of my favourite styling sprays @umbertogiannini texture boost."

Shouting out to the rest of Davina's glam team, he added: "Fantastic job as always done by @abigailrosewhite on clothes and @cherylphelpsgardiner on the make up. Hope you enjoy the show tonight, and happy guessing, good luck. It’s a good one."

Fans were blown away by the makeover - with one commenting: "Absolutely the best I think I’ve seen Davina look." Another typed: "Davina, you need to have your hair cut like that, it looks so good and really suits you."

While a further fan penned an emotional response, writing: "You look fabulous @davinamccall and why I particularly love this is normalising wearing wigs. So many of my clients I look after at Maggie’s centre whilst they are going through chemo and hair loss are scared of wearing wigs initially. Seeing celebs change up their appearance like this will give so many people more confidence. Great work as always @mdlondon."

Last year, Davina had her head partially shaved as doctors battled to save her life after it was discovered a benign brain tumour. Surgery was performed to remove the growth last November and Davina later shared that she was struggling with her short-term memory after being operated on.

She soon returned home where Michael helped care for her. Updating fans at the time, she wrote online: “I’m on the mend, I’m resting, I’m sleeping loads, I feel really good. And very lucky.”

Canada trails Hungary 2-0 after singles losses in Davis Cup qualifier - Sports

MONTREAL — Canada must overcome a 2-0 deficit against Hungary to advance in the Davis Cup men's team tennis tournament. Fabian Marozsan defeated Alexis Galarneau before Marton Fucsovics toppled Gabriel Diallo on Saturday at IGA Stadium, giving Hungary a commanding lead in the best-of-five, first-round qualifier. “It was a difficult day for us, for sure, Canadian team captain Frank Dancevic said. That said, we’re down 2-0 but I believe in this team that we can come back tomorrow. Win doubles, and I believe with our players that we can win the tie. Even if we’re down 2-0, we can come back and win.” Maroszan prevailed 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 against Galarneau, of Laval, Que., in the opening match. Montreal's Diallo won his first set, but Fucsovics fired back to take the match 3-6, 6-2, 6-2. Fucsovics, a veteran who's currently ranked 96th, saved six of seven break points while breaking No. 85 Diallo four times. He started serving better, more solid, giving up less, Diallo said of what changed after the first set. I had a bad game in the first set, he broke me, and that freed him up. He started playing better, picking his spots on serves. That put pressure on me to serve better and try to do a little more than I needed to. I think it's an accumulation of a few small things that turned the match around. The 176th-ranked Galarneau said No. 58 Maroszan played a complete game in their tight matchup. Off of both forehand and backhand, he can generate power and be dangerous, Galarneau said. But also his serve, I was surprised by serve. I thought he served really precisely and mixed it up quite well, so credit to him. Vasek Pospisil of Vernon, B.C., and Liam Draxl of Newmarket, Ont., are scheduled to take on Marozsan and Mate Valkusz in Sunday’s must-win doubles match. If necessary, Diallo would meet Marozsan in a fourth matchup and Galarneau would battle Fucsovics in a fifth. Dancevic wouldn't reveal if he'd change his lineup now that Canada's back is against the wall. Even if I were to change, I don't think I'd tell you right now, he said. There's no panic buttons going off right now in the locker room. It is what it is, we're down 2-0, but that's part of being a professional, part of being in this sport is you're always looking for solutions to get back. We're not done, we haven't lost, we've always fought to the end in the past. The winner of the two-day tie advances to the second round of qualifiers in September. The losing team will be relegated to the World Group 1 level. Canada has lost in the quarterfinals the last two years and won nine of its last 10 home ties. This report by The Canadian Press was first published Feb. 1, 2025
