Matt Lucas apologises to Millie Bobby Brown for comparing her to âLittle Britainâ character
The comedian implied the actor looked like Vicky Pollard

Comedian Matt Lucas has posted an apology to Millie Bobby Brown after comparing her to one of the characters on his show Little Britain.
Last month, the actor shared a picture on X (formerly Twitter) of the Stranger Things star in a pink jacket with her hair tied in a high ponytail. Above the image, he wrote the caption âNo but yeah butâ, a reference to his character Vicky Pollard. In the show, a big hit in the â00s, Pollard was an obnoxious teenager who often spoke in confusing slang.
AdvertisementOn Monday (March 3), Brown posted a video sharing her disgust at headlines written about her appearance. She singled out Lucasâ comment as an example, commenting: ââLittle Britainâs Matt Lucas takes savage swipe at Millie Bobby Brownâs new âmommy makeoverâ lookââwritten by Bethan Edwards, amplifying an insult rather than questioning why a grown man is mocking a young womanâs appearance. This isnât journalism. This is bullyingâ.

In an Instagram post shared today (March 4), Lucas wrote an apology that said: âDear Millie, I just saw your post and wanted to respond, and provide some context. Nearly 25 years ago I co-wrote and appeared in a sketch show called Little Britain.
âThere was a character in it called Vicky Pollard, who had blonde hair and always wore a pink top, and in the photo you has blonde hair and a pink top so I pointed out the similarity by posting one of her catchphrasesâ.

I would not have posted it if I had thought it would have upset you but I realise it has and for that I apologise. Matt xâ.
At the time of writing, there has been no response to the apology from Brown. The actor will next be seen in the film The Electric State, which it was revealed will be getting a video game prequel.
