Max George felt 'like I was dying' before surgery and wrote will from hospital
The singer, famous for being in The Wanted, underwent heart surgery at the end of last year

The Wanted star Max George said he thought he was 'going to die' in hospital after undergoing heart surgery at the end of last year. The singer has revealed that he wrote a will from his hospital bed in his first interview since his operation.
Speaking to The Sun, the 36-year-old shared the terror he felt when doctors told him that he had an irregularity with his heart and would need to have a pacemaker fitted.
Max, who said he was bar far the youngest patient on the ward, explained: "If I could go from being absolutely on top of the world to being told ‘the bottom part of your heart isn’t working’, I kept thinking in my head, ‘Well, what if the top half stops working overnight?'"
The boyband member said: "That first night I wrote a will, I thought I was going to die." He said he took out his iPhone and wrote out what he wanted his family to do with his assets in case he did not make it.
Max said he thought of his family and his girlfriend Eastenders actress Maisie Smith. "When you get told that, you really realise what your responsibilities are. I’ve got a partner, Maisie, I’ve got a family. I’ve got two little nephews and all of that stuff really comes to the front of it all," he said.
He told The Sun that he came "close" to dying on December 13 when his heart rate and blood pressure dropped simultaneously. "It was quite close that night," he said. "It really felt like my neck was closing up and that’s when the sort of panic really kicked in. I felt like I was dying. It was the worst, I felt emotional."

The singer shared updates with his fans on social media throughout his stay in hospital. On December 16, Max gave an update explaining that he had “a 2:1 block in my heart” and would be undergoing heart surgery “way quicker than the doctors first thought”.
After his surgery he told his followers that it had taken two and a half hours to fit the pacemaker. The implanted device regulates heart rhythm by generating an electric current.
While the procedure was complicated by collapsed veins caused by his condition, he was able to return home just in time to spend Christmas Day with Maisie and his family.
