Max George says 'feels weird to watch' as he's supported over health 'journey'
The Wanted singer required pacemaker surgery after he started feeling unwell last December
Max George shared new videos with fans as he was "looking back" at his time in hospital as a "reminder of the journey" during his recovery from heart surgery.
The Wanted singer revealed last December that he suddenly started to feel unwell and doctors found a "block" in his heart when he arrived at the hospital, which meant that it was beating to an abnormal rhythm. In his Instagram post he wrote: "Although this is a huge shock and no doubt a set back, it’s something I’ll take on with all I’ve got! I count myself very lucky that this was caught when it was."
The 36-year-old announced he'd been "given the best Christmas present" he could have wished for as his pacemaker surgery was successful. He declared that the operation took around two and half hours: "The main issue being some of my veins had collapsed where the wires were meant to go."
Max thanked the hospital surgeons, doctors and nurses at the NHS and has since regularly updated fans on his journey to recovery now that he's back home, including spending time with his family and dog, Albert, who he took on a walk after leaving the hospital. He shared: "Beautiful day with my beautiful boy. Feeling pretty good right now!"
Since then, Max updated his followers once again by posting two videos to his Instagram. The first video is him on the hospital bed as he says: "So it's about two in the morning and the snoring in here is mega. You probably can't hear it because of the huge fan" before he jokingly replicated the snoring sounds.

Exhausted, he continued: "I feel whacked, but beats per minute are 32 so I'm not exactly feeling rock and roll right now." A normal resting heart rate for an adult is anywhere between 60-100 beats per minute (bpm).
The second video was a lot shorter, as he's being wheeled through the hospital he announces "just got through the cardio ward now. Feel like sh*t but they're going to do more tests and stuff so fingers crossed."
To accompany these videos, Max captioned the post: "Just looking back at some of my time in hospital.. COMPLETELY forgot how the snoring next to me kept me in good spirits the first night!! Whoever that man was.. THANK YOU! (rock on hand gesture)"
He added: "The second vid is one of only a few that I can see where I’m genuinely s*#*#*#g it. Feels weird to watch.. But it’s a reminder of the journey."

Friends and fans of the star flooded his comments with support, @caaseybarker wrote: "So glad to see you on the road to recovery! Everyday day from that moment you’ll appreciate the little things a hell of a lot more and it’s an amazing perspective to have!"
@laurashelby94 commented: "Thanks for sharing Max, it shows how far you have come so fast. You mean a lot to a lot of people and we are all glad to see you doing better, even my mum in the middle of boxing day when I was in hospital myself said "did max get home for Christmas". We are all rooting for you mate, keep going" to which Max responded with two heart emojis.
@thebraintumourcharity also showed support: "Sending huge love Max". The Brain Tumour charity is important to the singer after his close friend and bandmate Tom Parker died in 2022 after suffering from glioblastoma multiforme which is an aggressive and incurable brain cancer.
Max and Siva Kanaswaran are hoping to perform at the Manchester Cathedral to raise money for the charity on the 27th February if Max is able to due to his recovery period.
