McDonald's warns UK menu item will be scrapped in all restaurants next week

But, it's only on sale until March 25, meaning customers have just 10 days left to get one before it comes off menus. On its website, McDonald's explains: "For a limited time only, treat yourself to an iconic McDonald’s Shamrock Shake.

"It’s made with creamy vanilla Soft Serve blended with our minty Shamrock Shake syrup and topped with a whipped light cream. The Shamrock Shake is available in small, medium and large. Get a Shamrock Shake or the OREO Shamrock McFlurry today.

"There are 500 calories in a small Shamrock Shake. The sweetest part? With each order of the Shamrock Shake, 25¢ is donated as a gift to Ronald McDonald House Charities, thru 3/23. Order one from the full menu in the app for fast, convenient pickup before they’re gone."

In her review for the Mirror, Cally Brooks wrote: "Initially, I thought it could go one of two ways – it could either taste like a delicious mint chocolate chip ice cream (minus the chocolate chips), or it could taste like toothpaste.
"I wasn’t sure how well peppermint syrup would taste in a milkshake, but the pale green colour was definitely enticing. It was a little disappointing that the colour wasn’t brighter, but then it could be verging on needing artificial food colouring to enhance the look.
"At first taste, the drink was delicious. It had the traditional creamy texture of a McDonald’s milkshake with the added twist of a hint of peppermint.

"It definitely wasn’t the strongest flavour, and I think I personally would have liked more syrup. That said, it’s a good all-rounder for those who aren’t traditionally peppermint fans. The vanilla flavour was also quite strong, suggesting it was their usual recipe with the addition of a peppermint syrup."
