Two months after a civil jury in Dublin, Ireland, found Conor McGregor guilty of sexually assaulting a woman, the former UFC champion (still with two fights on contract but not fighting in the company since July 2021) has been sued again for sexual assault. This is an old case that returns to the scene in the form of a civil lawsuit because, at the time, the criminal complaint was dismissed.

As reported from the United States by 'Front Office Sports', an anonymous woman filed a lawsuit on Tuesday night in Florida alleging that McGregor sexually assaulted her after a 2023 NBA Finals game. Basketball Properties LLC, which operates the Miami Heat's Kaseya Center, the NBA franchise that played the game and was the home team, is also being sued. The franchise and stadium staff are accused of not stopping serving alcohol to a "visibly intoxicated" McGregor.
The incident first came to light days after the game when the victim reported the incident to Miami police. However, months later, in the fall, the state attorney's office announced that it would not file criminal charges in the case.
The case has now been filed in the Southern District of Florida. The plaintiff is seeking past and future medical treatment, compensatory damages in excess of $75,000, litigation costs and other compensation. McGregor is accused of sexual assault, while Basketball Properties LLC is accused of gross negligence.
"The special treatment given to [McGregor, ed.] by allowing him to serve his own alcoholic beverages, as well as the failure to cut off [McGregor, ed.] from alcoholic beverages after he was over-served, demonstrates a conscious disregard for the safety of patrons similarly situated to Plaintiff, including Plaintiff," the lawsuit reads.
It should be remembered that this was the game in which McGregor sent the Miami Heat mascot to the hospital. The Irishman, who was courtside to promote one of the new sponsors of the American franchise, hit Burnie twice. The second of them, when he was already on the ground
"When the game was over, the lawsuit says, a known associate of the fighter grabbed the plaintiff's wrist and took her out of the club next to the stadium court. The plaintiff asked to be released, but McGregor's partner told her, 'Conor will kill me if I lose you,' according to the complaint. The plaintiff said in the complaint that McGregor was 'under the influence of intoxicants and out of control'. McGregor then appeared and led the plaintiff into a stadium bathroom where he 'attempted to force his unprotected penis into the plaintiff's mouth without her consent', according to the lawsuit. The woman tried to escape, but McGregor slammed her face against the wall, according to the lawsuit, and grabbed her by the arm. She managed to escape and then left the stadium," reads'Front Office Sports'.
"After the Miami-Dade County District Attorney's Office decided not to file criminal charges, a civil lawsuit is the only avenue my client has to seek justice in this case," said James Dunn, the alleged victim's attorney.
McGregor previously said the woman's claims were "nothing more than an extortion" and denied the allegations.
