The line-up for the iconic Glastonbury Festival has been unveiled, triggering a wave of mixed reactions on social media. While some expressed disappointment, others are excitedly anticipating the live performances.

Among the acts attracting discussion are the 1975, who are set to headline the Pyramid Stage on Friday. Completing the headlines slots will be Neil Young taking the spotlight on Saturday and Olivia Rodrigo closing the weekend on Sunday.

‌

As we gear up for the festivities at Worthy Farm, here's some intriguing trivia about the 1975. Originating from Wilmslow in 2002 and later basing themselves in Manchester, the English pop-rock band released their self-titled debut album in 2013. Combining alternative rock with pop, the album includes popular tracks such as "Chocolate", "Sex", and "Robbers".

‌

Since then, they've consistently topped the charts in the United Kingdom with each album release, earned Brit Awards, and received Grammy nominations. But the question on everyone's lips, recently a hot topic online, is the meaning behind the band name.

Curious fans will be pleased to find that Reddit users have revealed the story behind it. One person said: "Matty Healy discovered the band name in the back of a beat-era book given to him at a yard sale." Previously, Healy, said: "'In the back there were all these mental scribblings, and it was dated at the bottom '1st June, The 1975'. The use of the word 'the' really stuck with me. It was the perfect band name'."

Another person commented: "It's a kind of complicated story, but simply put Matty found a journal entry of sorts that was dated '1st June, the 1975'." A third person responded: "So Matty was given a journal by a person (might be a retired musician, don't remember). During his time reading it, he found the date written as '1st June, The 1975'.

"So 'the' part in The 1975 fascinated him because nobody writes it like this, and they already had a couple of band names, so they finally settled on 'The 1975'."
