Megan Thee Stallion releases new music video teaser
A brand new K-Pop themed competition reality series is heading to Apple TV+ in a first for the major streaming platform. International pop singer PSY, who is often credited with helping bring the genre of K-Pop to a more global stage, has been signed up to host the unique show.
He will be joined by rapper and songwriter Megan Thee Stallion, who is also serving as one of the executive producers. Another musical icon holding the same credit and working on the show behind the scenes is none other than Lionel Richie.
This new series will be an experiment of sorts for the company. As Variety reports that this will be one the few productions in the genre of unscripted competition or reality series. But when will the show be released? How will you be able to watch it and what exactly will it involve?
Megan Thee Stallion will co-host a new series alongside PSY
Here's everything you need to know. The show will be named KPopped and consist of eight episodes in total, reports Surrey Live. In each instalment, western icons reimagine one of their biggest hits, collaborating with top-tier K-pop idols to deliver spectacular battle performances, with a live Seoul-based audience picking the winner of the best new K-popped song.
It is not yet confirmed who these western icons are, nor the idols they will collaborating with. Nor is it known even if there will be some kind of judging panel offering critiques.
Apple is diving into new territory with a show that's set to shake up their original content offerings. They're no strangers to music shows, having already produced the likes of Reese Witherspoon's My Kind of Country, which shone a spotlight on country music, and a 2024 docuseries titled K-Pop Idols.
The upcoming series will be co-hosted by South Korean sensation PSY, famed for his global hit Gangnam Style. After returning to South Korea in 2022 to launch his own record label, PSY will share the stage with Megan Thee Stallion, an avid K-Pop enthusiast who collaborated on the BTS Butter remix in 2021.

While Apple has greenlit the series, they're keeping mum on the release date, only teasing that it's coming "soon" to the platform â much to the anticipation of fans hoping for a 2025 drop. Eager viewers can get their Apple TV+ fix directly through the app or via Amazon Prime Video as an add-on.
The buzz is real on social media, with fans expressing their excitement for the forthcoming series. One commented: "Wait, because I kind of need this now."
Another said: "That's such a cool pitch. I can't wait to see what she (Megan Thee Stallion) is able to do with this. Very exciting." A third posted: "Thank You Megan for giving me a reason to pay for Apple TV+."
KPopped is streaming on Apple TV+ soon.
