Meghan Markle Had a Very Unexpected Job While in College at Northwestern
Meghan Markle had an unexpected job as a coat check girl while in college at Northwestern, she revealed in 'With Love, Meghan' on Netflix.

Admittedly, Meghan being a coat check girl at one point was not on our bingo card, but it’s one of the many snippets of her life Meghan revealed in her eight-part Netflix docuseries With Love, Meghan, which hit the streaming service on March 4. In an episode of the show, Meghan shared that, while a student at Northwestern University, Meghan worked the coat check at a bar in Chicago—and had a brief stint trying out waitressing, too.

“The guy, it was really loud and he’s like, ‘Hey, can I get a…martini?’ and I was like, ‘I don’t know what he’s saying,’” she said in the series. “I was like, ‘I think he’s from Texas, and he asked me for a Cowboy Run martini,’ and they were like, ‘We don’t have that.’ So I went back and I was like, ‘We don’t have that.’ And he's like, ‘What? You don’t have a Ketel One martini?’ And I was like, ‘I don't know.’ And they’re like, ‘Let’s have you go back to being a coat check girl.’”
In another part of the series, Meghan spoke with fellow actress Mindy Kaling, with Kaling telling Meghan, “One thing that you and I have in common is we were both on TV shows for a long time.” (Meghan mentioned that her hit show, Suits, ran for seven seasons, while Kaling’s hit show, The Office, ran for eight seasons.)

“Yes, consistency,” Meghan replies.

With Love, Meghan reveals that Meghan also held some other jobs in addition to being a coat check girl before becoming an actress: for example, her first job was at an ice cream shop called Humphrey Yogarts, and she also worked at a donut shop called Little Orbit Donuts.
Though she didn’t work there, Kaling was stunned at one point when she learned that a young Meghan used to eat at Jack in the Box, a popular fast food restaurant.
