Ahead of their highly-anticipated appearance at the Invictus Games opening ceremony, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry stepped out together for an unexpected kickoff appearance on February 7. Their first joint outing in six monthsâan increasingly rare occurrence amid the coupleâs âtwin track approachâ to their individual careersâwas the perfect opportunity for a sweet PDA moment as Markle stepped on stage to deliver an unplanned speech about Prince Harry and their family. Before introducing her husband, the Suits alum shared a candid anecdote about how the prince prioritizes time with their kids Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet in the mornings.
Per a video shared by an attendee on X (formerly Twitter), Markle wore a sleeveless espresso-colored brown silk shift dress as she addressed a room full of Invictus Games athletes as well as their family and friends on Friday night. To kick off her impromptu welcome reception speech, the Duchess of Sussex admitted that she was ânot planning on speaking tonightâ but felt inspired to do so as she touched down in Canada.
"We are just thrilled to be here and I would be remiss if I didn't take the opportunity to introduce someone who means a lot to me and I know means quite a lot to all of you," Markle said, turning her attention to Prince Harry, who founded the Invictus Games in 2014.

You will see him throughout this week," she continued. âYou will see him at the games, you will see him probably curling with you and cheering you on at wheelchair basketball."
The American Riviera Orchard entrepreneur also shared a rare anecdote about how Prince Harry approaches fatherhood as she revealed how he balanced parenting with the upcoming games.
"With families...the big rush in the morning and getting ready for school and packing the lunchboxes and making breakfast and my husband is in all of that with all of us," she added, revealing that the coupleâs two children noticed when he was on his phone in preparation for the games.

âAnd then he'll be on his phone, and Archie will be like, 'Papa, why are you on your phone?' and he says, 'Because it's Invictus, I'm getting ready for Invictus,ââ she shared, adding, âIt means so much to him.â
Markle also seemingly appeared to confirm that Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet would not be making an appearance at the games this year as she welcomed him on stage.Â

"I need you to know that, how much it means to him and how much each of you mean to him,â she said. âIt is my entire pleasure and complete honor to introduce to the stage my husband, the father of our very sweet, excited children who are cheering you on from California, Prince Harry, founder of the Invictus Games, the Duke of Sussex."
The couple shared a sweet PDA moment as Prince Harry headed on stage, kissing each other before the royal addressed the crowd. The Sussexes are also set to make another joint appearance on Saturday, February 8 as they officially kick off the Invictus Games at the opening ceremony.
