Meghan Markle Surprises Longtime Fans for “Magical Evening” in New York City
Meghan Markle surprised longtime fans of her lifestyle blog The Tig during a surprise appearance at a screening of her Netflix series 'With Love, Meghan' in New York City.
A group of longtime Meghan Markle fans had a memorable night in New York City, complete with a surprise from Meghan herself.
On March 3—the eve of the premiere of her Netflix lifestyle series, With Love, Meghan—the Duchess of Sussex shocked fans of Meghan’s former lifestyle blog, The Tig, at a special screening of her new Netflix show (which some fans have taken to calling “Tig TV,” per People). Unexpectedly, Meghan showed up at the event, a moment she captured on her Instagram and shared to her Instagram Story.

The event Monday night was held for a group of people who have followed Meghan’s work in the lifestyle space since even before she met Prince Harry in 2016. Meghan opened The Tig—which focused on pursuits she enjoyed (and still enjoys) like food, travel, and wellness—in 2014 and closed it in 2017, months before her engagement to Harry was announced.
“A surprise in the Big Apple tonight,” Meghan wrote over her Instagram Story as she prepared to walk into the screening. In the video, she said, “They don’t know I’m coming.”
As she entered the venue to a stunned crowd of fans, Meghan asked, “What’d you guys think?” Onsite was a bottle of Tignanello wine—for which The Tig was named—and Meghan’s fans surprised her, too, sporting tattoos that read, “As ever,” the new name of Meghan’s lifestyle brand (formerly known as American Riviera Orchard).
The event took place at Ludlow House, a Soho House club in Manhattan, according to The Daily Mail. “The girls that have supported me for nearly a decade!” Meghan wrote on Instagram. She added in one of her Instagram Stories a thank you to Netflix for “hosting this magical evening.”
For the occasion, fashion site What Meghan Wore reported that Meghan donned a double-breasted coat from Argent in tweed and black suede Manolo Blahnik pumps.
Back home in Montecito, California, Harry and their kids Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet sent along a supportive handwritten card and a bouquet of flowers to celebrate Meghan’s show debut. The card, which Meghan shared on social media, read “Congratulations mumma! We love your show, and we love you!” The note was signed by Lili, Archie, and “Papa”—Archie and Lilibet’s nickname for Harry.

The Tig got a special shoutout when Meghan announced the rebrand of American Riviera Orchard to As Ever on February 18: “As ever essentially means as it’s always been, and if you’ve followed me since 2014 with The Tig, you know I’ve always loved cooking and crafting and gardening—this is what I do,” Meghan said in a video shared to Instagram. “I haven’t been able to share it with you in the same way for the past few years, but now I can.”
People calls With Love, Meghan “a natural extension of The Tig,” and the Duchess of Sussex told the outlet in a March 3 interview that she found fans referring to the eight-part series as “Tig TV” something she found “so sweet.”

“But it’s always been there,” Meghan said. “And I just love now that people do get to see it. This is who I’ve always been. It’s just been really fun. I think that’s the piece that perhaps in the past few years, without being able to share in the same way, I don’t know if maybe people had a sense of how much fun we have.”
