Meghan Markle's latest Netflix offering, 'With Love, Meghan', provides an intimate glimpse into her Montecito life, featuring a peculiar scene where she gets visibly excited over a turnip. The Duchess of Sussex's much-awaited series premiered on Tuesday, showcasing her alongside famous friends such as 'Suits' co-star Abigail Spencer, Delfina Blaquier, and chef Roy Choi, as she imparts her finest tips on gardening, cooking, and entertaining.
In a notably whimsical segment, the Duchess appears flustered as she tells guest Alice Waters, "I feel like you're watching me fall in love," while savouring a turnip. She even invokes Fred Flintstone, triumphantly pulling out a fish bone and declaring "yabadabadoo" during a culinary session with pals Abigail Spencer and Kelly Zafjen.
At one juncture, Meghan playfully remarks, "My bacon brings all the boys to the yard," noting that Prince Harry and their three dogs invariably appear in the kitchen when she fries up the savoury snack.
While crafting a floral arrangement, Meghan discloses her penchant for tidiness by fashioning a temporary bin for any offcuts, then divulges that her daughter Lilibet has composed a ditty titled 'Clean as You Go', which Meghan briefly sings.
She also confides about her musical preferences, stating that yacht rock and French dinner party music are her favourites, reports the Mirror.
In the second episode, Meghan corrects one of her famous guests who mispronounces her surname.
Actress Mindy Kaling refers to Meghan as "People wouldn't believe that Meghan Markle ate at Jack in the Box," during a conversation about eating at Jack in the Box, to which Meghan responds: "It's so funny, too, that you keep saying Meghan Markle. You know I'm Sussex now. "
Royals use their titles in place of surnames, so Harry is officially Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, while Meghan is Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. Their children, Archie and Lilibet, were granted Prince and Princess titles following the death of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022.
However, these titles aren't really practical in day-to-day life, especially as the family have now made new lives for themselves in the US. But it seems the couple have kept with royal tradition and decided to turn their title into a family name for everyday use.
Article continues belowMeghan explained how much the surname means to her in a new interview with PEOPLE magazine ahead of the show airing. She described it as being part of her and Harry's "love story".
She told the publication: "It's our shared name as a family, and I guess I hadn't recognised how meaningful that would be to me until we had children. I love that that is something that Archie, Lili, H and I all have together. It means a lot to me."
