Meghan Markle âshowed her true coloursâ within minutes of the first episode of her new Netflix show.
The Duchess of Sussex, who ditched royal life to move to Montecito with Prince Harry in 2021, has launched her lifestyle programme With Love, Meghan, on the streaming platform after stepping back from acting. Whether sheâs keeping bees or making her own bath salts, Meghanâs new show is a huge U-turn from her Suits days.
Now body language expert Inbaal Honigman, speaking to Spin Genie, has exposed the moment Meghanâs âmask slippedâ in the programme â and her âbody language isnât genuine at allâ.
Inbaal explained that while waiting for her best friend Daniel Martin, Meghan is âvery self consciousâ, explaining: âEven the way she walks, pointed toes and straight legs like a ballerina, isnât a natural, regular walk.
âSmiling overly broadly, she tries to put across the impression that she is happy, but her cheeks are stretched excessively to the sides, not rounded in the apples of the cheeks in a genuine way. She taps the counter with all of her fingers, drumming with her fingertips, signifying nerves.â
Inbaal added: âWhen Meghan talks about Daniel having been in her life during what she calls âthe before, during and afterâ, her gaze trails off to the side. This is very interesting as she has been talking to the showâs producer all along, narrating the show with full eye contact, and she suddenly breaks this eye contact, momentarily lost in her own thoughts.
âThis moment of Meghanâs gaze trailing away means that sheâs hiding something, she looks away in order to break eye contact with the audience, trying to figure out whether she said something sheâs not meant to say, or revealed too much.â
The expert concluded: âWhen Daniel gets there, the arrival is a damp squib. Meghan, after much snipping of flowers and stirring of salts and labelling of cellophane bags, greets her friend without raising her eyes from the prep. The lack of eye contact is not aligned with the anticipation of a reunion with a decades-long friendship.
âWhen waiting for a visitor, it is natural to look out for them, so that you donât miss their arrival. Meghan says âoh helloâ with her eyes still lowered over her preparations, sheâs not raising her eyes in greeting, or to make her friend feel welcome, or even to confirm that it is him entering.
âThis suggests mixed feelings about Daniel being there, as if sheâs worried that he might say something on camera that could get her in trouble.â
