Meghan Trainor's New e.l.f. Collab Makes Achieving Cloud Skin Easier That Ever
As Meghan Trainor celebrates the 10th anniversary of the album that changed her life, she's also celebrating another milestone—a new campaign with beauty powerhouse e.l.f. centered on cloud skin.

When Meghan Trainor sat in the glam chair preparing to film the music video for "All About That Base"—a 2014 single that spent eight consecutive weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart—it was the first time she had her makeup done professionally. "I didn't know anything about makeup," says the pop star—and yet it was love at first blush. As she celebrates the 10th anniversary of her life-changing debut EP, Title, this year, she's also celebrating another milestone—a new campaign with beauty powerhouse e.l.f.
The campaign centers on the art of cloud skin and how one can achieve that dreamy, radiant finish. It's not the super matte look that was popular when Trainor first got into makeup, nor is it the super-dewy look that took over in the years after. "It's this beautiful, velvety, kind of in-between look," explains Alison Christian, Trainor's longtime makeup artist. "We definitely went for that look with Megan in this campaign."

In the campaign, Trainor poses as an airline captain to promote the new Cloud Skin bundle. "Everything we put in this bundle is what I use when I do my makeup," says Trainor, "whether I'm doing a heavy look or a light, cute look." The set includes four products: Three newbies—the Halo Glow Powder Filter, Glow Reviver Lip Oil Glimmer in the shade Princess Cut, and the limited-edition Flying High Eye Mask—plus Trainor's longtime favorite, the Halo Glow Liquid Filter. Shop NowThe Halo Glow Powder Filter is the secret weapon for a cloud-skin look. Apply it after loose setting powder for the perfect blurred finish. "The loose powder is kind of like a security blanket. It's usually transparent, so you can't really see it," explains Christian. "The glow powder has a softer, blurring texture, creating a filtered look."
Trainor, who has worked with e.l.f. for a few years, describes Princess Cut, the new lip oil shade, as "me in a bottle." She uses it daily to moisturize her pout and layers it on top of the Cream Glide Lip Liner (shade Truth or Bare) when she's touring. "In between songs, I would come off stage and need a new lip, and my assistant always had it ready," says Trainor. "It's just the best. And I can't get enough of it."
Halo Glow Liquid Filter is a product that Trainor has loved for years. "I remember when it first went viral, I was like, 'Yes, e.l.f.!' It felt like rooting for a bestie. And now to have Powder Filter with it—it's the best duo. And it just makes my makeup look so natural and so great and flawless."

Beyond Trainor's relationship with makeup and beauty, so much has changed in the 10 years since her debut album Title came out. She became a huge star, released two more albums, and became a mom. But she still relates to the songs that got her here in the first place. To celebrate, she's re-releasing Title along with two new songs—a re-recording of "All About That Bass" and a remix of "Better When I'm Dancing," produced by her younger brother Justin Trainor.
"I relate to a lot of those songs; I'm going to be 75 years old singing 'All About That Bass,'" she says. "These songs are all about confidence and empowering women, empowering myself, and self-love—it's something I'm constantly working on. Ten years later, I have a family and kids, but I'm still working on self-love. It's something you're always working on. So these songs always work in my set list at my shows, and they're always coming from a real place."
