Michelle Pfeiffer Honored at Iconic Ceremony
Explore the legacy of Michelle Pfeiffer and her iconic hand and footprint ceremony honoring her remarkable career in Hollywood.
Both the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the handprints in front of the TCL Chinese Theatre are iconic events that honor the achievements of celebrities. While the first Walk of Fame star was given to Joanne Woodward in 1960, the first handprints were created by Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks in 1927. Since then, more than 2,800 stars have been created. However, with just over 370 hand and footprints immortalized in front of the legendary Chinese Theatre, recipients can be left awestruck.
For Michelle Pfeiffer, who received her Walk of Fame star in 2007, being invited to join this elite group has left her feeling overwhelmed and extremely grateful.
âThere just isnât anything like this anymore,â she said at the ceremony. âItâs really awe-inspiring, thatâs all I can say. Every time I come. To join all of these brilliant, creative artists and be considered amongst them is such an honor.â

Pfeifferâs ceremony was part of the 2025 TCM Classic Film Festival. She won a Golden Globe for The Fabulous Baker Boys, one of the films being shown. She was also nominated for an Academy Award three times: Best Supporting Actress for Dangerous Liaisons, Best Actress for Love Field, and Best Actress for The Fabulous Baker Boys. She received a BAFTA for her performance in Dangerous Liaisons.
âI am so deeply honored,â the Batman Returns star told the audience with emotion. âIf you had told me back then that I would be here today, I wouldnât have believed it.â

Sisters Dakota and Elle Fanning were in attendance to introduce her. Dakota worked on her first film, I Am Sam, with Pfeiffer. Elle also had a brief role in the movie and worked with her on Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. Dakota spoke about her respect and admiration for The Fabulous Baker Boys actress. âI am so incredibly honored to commemorate the first actress I ever worked with,â she said. âAnd a North Star for me. There is no one more deserving of being commemorated in this way than Michelle.â
âNo one can do what Michelle does,â Elle Fanning said with certainty. âMichelle is an anomaly. Sheâs brought to life such an array of characters. Michelle is a once-in-a-lifetime actor.â
âEverything, family is everything,â she replied tearfully when asked by ET what it meant to have her husband at the ceremony and her familyâs support. She also theorized that one day, her kids would come down and put their hands where hers were imprinted. âAnd my grandchildren one day, maybe. When I have grandchildren,â she laughed.
Her kids, John and Claudia, werenât at the ceremony, but her husband, writer and producer David E. Kelley, was. She and Kelley, whoâs known for his Emmy-winning shows like Big Little Lies, Ally McBeal, and L.A. Law, are working together for the first time on the upcoming series Margoâs Got Money Troubles.
The reason that they never worked together during their 30 years of marriage was that she ânever wanted to jeopardizeâ their relationship. âIt can get dicy, to sort of blur those lines.â Now that theyâve blurred those lines, she has no regrets. âIâm having so much fun,â she said.
