A Milford shoe store unknowingly sold over 1,200 counterfeit products last year, a police investigation found.
Family Sneaker House in Milford sold fake sneakers and clothing items that, if real, were worth over $200,000, according to a statement from Milford Police Department. The shopâs owner purchased the products from a Chinese distributor via wire transfer.
âWhile this was not a traditional crime indicative of our community, itâs important to realize these types of operations are not just taking billions away from these big corporations but more importantly, money out of the wallets of hard-working people,â Police Chief Robert Tusino said in the statement.

Milford police started its investigation into Family Sneaker House last year after several customers reported fake shoes and clothing items sold at the store. The counterfeit products sold were made to look like brands from Nike, Puma, Adidas, and Yeezy, according to Milford Daily News.
Andrea Powers, president of Powers & Associates, wrote a letter to the Milford Police Department on behalf of Nike, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and Adidas and âpersonally praisedâ the detectivesâ efforts, according to the statement.
The companies did not press any charges against the shoe store owner.
